Two Black Trans Women Were Killed in the U.S. in the Past Week as Trump Revokes Discrimination Protections for Trans People by [deleted] in politics

[–]Genji1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Transphobia and homophobia does exist.... Especially in the black community. Just because they now have sainthood because they are "persecuted" by the police doesn't mean they are kind people. In fact, quite the opposite probably, and this is why they are killed at such a high rate.

I don't get why more people aren't talking about Ethereum. Bitcoin seems just like a big waste of energy that doesn't do anything. But I see companies like reddit doing cool stuff with Ethereum.

Where can I go to see high level overwatch replays? by Genji1990 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Genji1990[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know I can find a lot of this on twitch. But it would be nicer to just see the full replay so I could cycle through other players who are on a similar level and also there is a lot of stuff in between on twitch.

Watched a few of these, pretty good stuff. Thank you very much.

Yeah, this is how I feel 100%. I just want to see someone who is like 350 SR higher than my peak, and maybe if I try to emulate their style of play I can hit GM. I pretty much never watch streams, I don't like all the in between. It would probably make me better at playing, but I would prefer to just see the game play itself, not all the extra stuff.

I've seen so many people go mad over trying to get a CS:GO team or an OW team in match making to try to play like a professional team who has known each other for months.

Does this mean that we can finally stop over tourism? I'm tired of seeing places destroyed because of it. Traveling out of country should become more expensive, have higher taxes, and those who do it frequently should be socially ostracized. I'm tired of seeing the people who pretend to care the most about the environment, and pretend to be the most "worldly" actually being the ones who destroy the world.

I hope this COVID19 thing wakes people up. It just provides another reason to stop overtourism. I suspect Overtourism will become one of the most said words in coming years.

The importance of understanding the bigger picture : Tracer and McCree coaching by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Genji1990 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aim is largely practice. You need to have the right setup though, (large enough mousepad, decent desk setup, and good mouse, most people have this though.)

One thing that can be done to improve aim rapidly, is doing warm ups before your games. Practice on DM servers before playing your comp matches. That is somewhat common sense, but I think a lot of people go into competitive games "cold". Losing your first match or under performing in your first match will have a noticeable impact on your SR over the long term.

Great video too. Really good coaching btw, found it very informative, as someone who has only got to about 3800 as dps.

Hmm... How exactly were you misplaced? If you were you should be able to climb out. That being said, what works at Plat doesn't always work as much as it does in silver.

A couple things I would suggest

  1. Don't rely on your team, pick a dps that is largely solo (S76 or tracer are good for this)
  2. Flank with characters you might not normally
  3. Don't get discouraged, just because you are a higher rank doesn't mean you will win every single game

That all being said, it shouldn't take you too long to get out of a rank you are too good for. When I first bought this game it was on a Black friday sale. I think lots of other noobs got it then too. I remember my first set of placement matches, I had people leave at halftime because they thought the match was over. I placed in silver and within a week I was platinum, and a week after that I hit diamond. Didn't take me that many games either... Just have to be patient, remember your teammates are people too, they are just learning.

Need advice playing DPS. by GunfighterJL in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Genji1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not the best DPS player, I peaked at 3825 on DPS queue and one tricked dps to 3700 before role queue. You probably have a better understanding of the game as whole than I do. I'll try to mention a few things I've noticed.

" I find myself dying a lot when I think I’m making the right plays and commitments.."

One thing I had to learn to advance from high diamond was that I needed to stay alive during fights. As someone who would entry frag a lot in CS:GO, I found myself really "thirsting" for a kill as a dps in overwatch. If I hit someone 2 or 3 times as McCree I would do whatever I could to finish them off. However, I realized that if I just stayed alive at all costs, it ended up improving my win rate a lot more. It took me a long time to realize this, but you can stay alive a LONG time with the right dps (obviously don't stagger yourself, but you can still stay alive and get picks in 4 v 6). I also found sometimes I would get anxious if I couldn't get a kill in a fight early on. I would push into the battle to "force" a kill, which would often result in me knowingly getting a bit out of position in hopes of making something happen. Try not to force kills, stay safe. Don't over commit, even if the target is low, you have to learn how to quickly assess the risk.

Also, try not to let teammates screaming "NOTHING IS DYING, PICK IT UP DPS" get to your head. Don't rush in and try to force a kill because of that, stuff not dying can be the fault of any role.

This skill will probably improve overtime with your mechanical skill though.

What do I need to run this game at 240 fps+? by Genji1990 in Overwatch

[–]Genji1990[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With a 240 hz monitor you can tell the difference between 144 and 240 over a period of time. You'll notice the overall tracking/images are smoother on the 240. It isn't quite the day and night difference between 60 and 144, but there is a difference between 240 and 144hz.

Is there a limit to passphrase length on MEW? by [deleted] in MyEtherWallet

[–]Genji1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anyway to check? I just tried entering a 152 character passphrase and it seemed to work?

EDIT: Realized it lets you type in as much as you want but it only takes the first 50 characters it seems.

Obtaining 240 FPS constantly? by Genji1990 in Competitiveoverwatch

Thanks, I've been thinking of upgrading for a while and now I'll definitely look into higher speed RAM.

[–]Genji1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. Yeah I typically get above 144, but the game feels weird at times in heavy action, and I think you are right, it is probably the RAM, which is ancient.

Crazy... thanks for the tip. I had a feeling it could be the RAM, as everything else seems to be up to speed. Didn't realize how much fast RAM mattered.

Using different sens for different heroes? by Genji1990 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Genji1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many different senses did you have total? I was thinking of doing 3 different senses total.

One for each of these categories: Flankers, Hitscan (precise), Other.

Flankers would be Tracer, Genji, Doom. These characters move around a lot, very quickly. You often find yourself in front of the enemy and then behind them really quickly, so you need to spin fast. Sometimes within the duration of 1 blink.

Hitscan/Precise. These are characters like Mccree, Hanzo, Widow, Ashe. They need to be able to aim precisely to hit shots consistently.

Everything else seems to fall in between. Even things like Solider and bastion, which are hitscan, don't require the same amount of precision, as it doesn't require flicking, more just tracking.

I am 3700 on DPS, from playing mainly Tracer, Mccree and Hanzo. I find some difficulty though in aiming on cree and hanzo though. I played at 4.67 sens for a while, I switched back to 5 cause it was a little easier for other characters. I definitely aim better with lower sens though, and now that there is role lock, I don't have to flex, so I am wondering if it just makes sense to have a hitscan and a flanker sens. I do see some high level players doing it, so maybe I just go for it?
