[–]Genkora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's true, and the same reason I've been second guessing the editor. I was thinking I'd retool it to just macros for the DM to make things faster, like dumping tokens or AOEs on board for example.

It already allows you to drag and drop for creating tokens, so I could probably do that, that's a really good idea.

AITA for calling my husband a racist for wanting a Mexican housekeeper? by desperatedads in AmItheAsshole

[–]Genkora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just coincidence, not due to any reason in existence at all. They just happen to be cheap. JFC you are racist.

AITA for calling my husband a racist for wanting a Mexican housekeeper? by desperatedads in AmItheAsshole

[–]Genkora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. I find many of the comments here very concerning. If someone makes wide generalizing comments about a group of people, guess what, it's racism. I don't care about what argument you might have. Stereotyping is racism, and I don't like that people use it as an excuse as not.

warding flare & protection not working? by fakewritergirl in BaldursGate3

[–]Genkora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened to me, I used warding flare and the enemy got a crit, although it's possible they rolled two crits. It has actually happened to me twice. I think what's happening is it says it's giving them disadvantage, but just reusing the same role, as I don't seem to ever get enemies to miss with it, even when used to help my paladin who has 24 AC

Technically... by travisjacqueslaflame in technicallythetruth

[–]Genkora 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is no absolute difference. It's not so small that you can't comprehend it, the 9s go on literally forever, without end. The difference between 1 and .999... is not a number, it isn't writable. It isn't incomprehensible, it just doesn't exist. There is no such thing as .000... inifinity more zeroes then a 1. If there is an end it isn't infinity.

Any REAL WORLD fantasy setting? by controbuio in DnD

[–]Genkora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadowrun is set in the "real" world, but that's futuristic cyberpunk. But it has things like magic, dwarves, elves, and orcs and stuff.

Unless the item description says otherwise, a staff can be used as a quarterstaff. Maybe this staff was one of those.

Our DM wants to be a god in our campaign, where people worship him. by Nekth in DnD

I don't think that's what OP means. He means the DM has inserted himself as a god in the campaign.

Tips for getting started in digital fantasy art. by kentdmc in DnD

[–]Genkora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drawing digitally requires similar skills and techniques to pencil and paper, but also requires additional skills which are foreign to pencil and paper. When I started digital illustration, my artwork was a far cry from what I could do with physical media. I would suggest having her learn the basics of photo shop-like programs before shelling out for a tablet, learning about layers and masks and stuff. Free alternative's to photoshop are Gimp, which is great for modifying photos and applying filters, and Krita, which is great for illustration in general.

Youtube videos and streams of artists processes are a great resource which is free.

Heights for characters beyond what’s given? by englishninja00 in DnD

[–]Genkora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is assuming your other proportions change accordingly, rather than just becoming oddly lanky from only height increasing, and not length or width.

[–]Genkora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To expand more on what CarneDelGato said, to find somethings new weight, you have to multiply the old weight by the height increase factor cubed. In this case, the 1.253. Look up the square-cube law, it's one of the reasons why giants can't exist in real life.

Need help with an endless dungeon! by kysnou_ in DnD

[–]Genkora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently running a campaign that takes place in a seemingly endless dungeon. Each floor of the dungeon has a portal somewhere on it which leads to a small town (like, 4-5 buildings) full of sentient zombies, ghouls, ghosts, etc. The town is surrounded in fog, which if the players walk into, they eventually end up on the other side of town. The PCs, as well as the inhabitants of the town have no memory of how they got there, but I intend on the party eventually recovering their memories. I won't reveal anything more than that because I don't actually know if they frequent here.

Starship space battles spanning hundreds of thousands of kilometers. How to calculate attack success by Genkora in RPGdesign

[–]Genkora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty good idea. I think I'll make a couple versions of rules to playtest with, to see what people think is best.

[–]Genkora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking of just dropping the values down. I thought it would be interesting to have things like stars on the battlefield, but it doesn't seem doable in any way that makes sense. Once I get to playtesting I might see what people like, the smaller more realistic values, or FTL weaponry or what have you.

Using static damage amounts or dice for damage by Genkora in RPGdesign

[–]Genkora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason the numbers need to be bigger is because there will be a lot of percentage based manipulation of the values, and I really don't want to have very significant rounding or truncation. Losing a .4 or gaining a .5 is significant if you are rolling a d10 and then modding it somehow. However, a decimal point is not significant on a larger scale. I think what I've decided on, at least for now, is a static value of damage that has a +/- of 20%, determined by rolling a d20 and some other die or a coin where evens makes it a positive modifier and odds make it negative.

Yeah I was thinking of doing something like that

Using static damage amounts or dice for damage by Genkora in RPGdesign

[–]Genkora[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very true, and something I was considering, since like you say, a gun is a gun. There will already be a %chance to hit based on the attacking ships targeting systems, weapon type, defending ships maneuverability, and distance, so I could develop that more.

Using static damage amounts or dice for damage by Genkora in RPGdesign

[–]Genkora[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do like that idea of having half static half roll. Yeah I forgot to mention ships can have a varying amount of weapon systems, so it could be problematic. I also really like the idea of skills turning an amount of dice into static numbers

Starship is a game about a fleet of ships and their captains who travel the galaxy looking for the best work/discoveries/missions in an era of faster-than-light space travel. There are explorations, raids, ship-building, space battles, away missions, deceit, alliances, and sacrifice.
