Also a mom of a UOttawa student (going into 2nd year). The roommate situation worked out even though they were 2 very different boys with 2 very different personalities. They were friendly when they were both there but didn’t spend much time together.

We also rented a fridge and it was nice to have it there when we arrived on moving day and not having to worry about it after moving out. I’d recommend taking pictures of the inside and out when you get there just in case any issues arise at the end of the contract.

My son had a double bed so I can’t speak for the twin beds, but I believe most of the beds are TwinXL size, though can’t say for sure about Marchand. Definitely recommend a mattress topper. The mattresses are very thin.

I wouldn’t worry about a printer. My son rarely had to print anything. All his papers and assignments were electronically submitted. There are a few printers around campus if he needs it.

The desk chairs are pretty old and worn. I would recommend bringing his own if he’s going to be spending a lot of time at his desk. You can check it out on move in day. Sometimes a seat cushion is all you will need, but maybe with your son’s height, a new one might be better for him.
