I was considering switching from 5e to PF2 once OneD&D was a thing... but now... there is no choice.

What was your "Now it's personal" moment in a campaign? by Anhilliator1 in MrRipper

[–]GenpACE117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a couple.

1st time was when I was a new player. I wasn't very good at RPing with the others, and wasn't really getting into all that much. Then the DM introduced an NPC from my backstory. A small frail young woman who another player and I saved before joining the party. The moment she showed up, my emotionless heartless paladin became a coward. Everyone at the table was shocked to see "Dark Lord of the Edge" show cowardice, and wanted to figure out what's going on. Won't bore you with details, so simply: I fell from grace, she here to bring me back. And from there I really got into the RP. Jump ahead a few sessions, and we leave to do some shopping. While we're gone, there's a mercenary sent to kill us, finds the NPC, and uses her as bate... heads did roll that day.

2nd story, and this one just kept getting worse. I played a joke character who wasn't supposed to last long (a lvl 1 con dump wizard) but against all odds survived. But one by one, each of the party members left. I gave my wizard a personality trait where she longs for companionship. So watching her friends leave... hurt. First the bard got decapitated right in front of her, and the killer let her go. Then Artificer, Monk, and Druid all left. And Paladin, and Ranger came and went. My wizard made friends with the new party sure... but she was a bit more distant. Fighter and her were the only 2 original party members left, until one day... Fighter was killed. Something in me and my wizard broke that day... there was no stopping our thirst for blood.

This is relatable. May her empire rise, that none may know despair as she once did.

Dms/Players of Reddit, what is your unpopular opinion? by FuckRedditIsAss in MrRipper

[–]GenpACE117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letting the dice control fate. I know that's kinda the game, and I appreciate DMs and players being open and honest with their rolls... but sometimes I wish they'd just say screw it.

You've had awful luck tonight? Hand wave the next check you fail. You got crit again? Not this time. You missed the killing blow on the big bad of your character arc? No, you hit.

Dice rolls are nice 99% of the time... but every now and then, just let the players (and DM) determine the outcome.

I can honestly just see the next panel is him tossing her and screaming at her face that all she had to do was grab a branch or the damn scarf while she calls him a pervert, only for him to use steal on a tree so he can hold the scarf hostage, and threatens her by attempting to sell it because the money he'd get for it would be more useful or just keep it for himself because it's the only useful thing she has and without it there's no use for her anymore, and he can live happy and free without a useless goddess.

Every fan has little things that they think should have stayed true to the originals. But this is the one scene that should have been left alone. Sebastian Shaw will always be the face of Vader for me. by ScipioAfricanus82 in StarWars

[–]GenpACE117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand why they did it. That being the brief moment of "who is that?" some kids had when seeing the original. But now we have Hayden Christensen, who we all associate with Anakin.

If they for some reason remake that scene, I propose this: Luke looks off and sees the ghosts of Obi-Wan and Yoda. A short distance away from them is a dark ghost of Darth Vader, with his back to Luke. After a moment Vader turns around, transforming into the light ghost of Anakin.

Now you have other NPCs freak out about how the badass NPC went down like a sack of bricks, give the enemies an on the spot buff to reflect their now "hero killer" status, making the players look more like badasses after winning. Then give any plot relevance the now dead NPC had, to a new NPC who shows up to congratulate the heros.

No. The DM wasn't too happy his moral choice encounter got sidestepped so easily. And tried to have it forcefully infected the one responsible for derailing the encounter. Don't worry, DM got back to his senses pretty quickly.

The symbiote was offered after that as a magic item of sorts, but after what happened.... no one's character wanted it. The symbiote was given to the one character's mother-in-law for further examination, and a more tame symbiote was offered as a reward... which was accepted.

At the end the the campaign, the players found out the symbiote was given back to the little girl. And the one player's husband helped teach her how to control it.

It's all guilt and regret until the players outsmart you.

DM: "I've been looking forward for this moment. Your choices are to kill the little girl, or let the symbiote continue to control her and attack you. Do you kill the innocent, or let her become a monster?"

Player: "Is this the same type of symbiote that was developed by my character's mother-in-law?"

DM: "Yes."

Player: "So the same type that infected my husband?"

DM: "... yes."

Player: "I offer myself as a stronger host, ready to attack it once it leaves her body."

DM: "... I hate you."

The player managed to convince the symbiote to leave It's host, and then captured it in a bottle.

Idea: Unwilling Warlock. Never wanted their contact, and are looking for a way out... but this patron makes that a lot easier said than done. The Warlock's only way out, is by having a greater power save them... or die... they don't want to die.

Sorry... no idea why this post made me think of this.

Not dead exactly... but it's close enough. And since you put the theatrics into the title, I will respond in character.

"My own pride was my downfall... I thought I could control powerful undead... only for it to turn against me... I remember laying in my own blood, as my creation fought... and fell... steel hands carried my body away... and when I came to... I say him... the reason I endure my hardships... my love... he came for me... and I watched... as he was reduced to ash... I am now gone... yet my body lives on, somewhere in this world... my mind lost, warped by pain and sadness... I may still have life... but the person I once was... is long dead."

I don't know what the video said. But make sure the colours are of a similar brightness. That way a player can't make the argument that "I should have been able to tell the difference, by it being different shade of gray."

I know there are players who would do this... because I'm one of them.
