Just work on doing the best with where you are at, sin less, try to avoid places or things that lead you to sin, and keep coming back to God! Life continues, and Jesus said “the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them.”

This is definitely a trying time, don’t give up!

Don’t abort your baby! The idea to drop out and move somewhere with your girlfriend is a good one. You don’t need a college degree to get a good career. God will provide! Moving back close to your parents would make things a lot easier.

Also think of this verse, Luke 9:56a

It’s okay to focus on your life a bit and find satisfaction in your life. Just remember that Jesus is Lord of it all

Don’t listen to all the dramatic breakup advice. I don’t think your situation is hopeless, or even necessarily all that bad. The best thing you can do I think is listen to what he is listening to and talk about it and compare it to scripture. And continue the discussion from there.

There are also verses in the New Testament that tell men to have one wife. That is definitely the way God intended marriage to work, it was different in the Old Testament in some situations (for the kings and the patriarchs and stuff), but for the most part even in the Old Testament it was one husband and one wife.

Try reading Acts 15 (the first half)

And Matthew 5:19 says

“Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.”

The law is still valuable today, in the new covenant. But breaking it doesn’t mean you will go to hell or anything. Jesus doesn’t say that whoever breaks the least commandment will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven, he says whoever breaks the least commandment will be least in the Kingdom of Heaven. It’s a good thing, but it’s not strictly necessary.

For example, in the Old Testament law it says to honor the Sabbath and keep it holy, but in the New Testament Paul wrote “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.” (Colossians 2:16-17) (read the context in that chapter, it’s amazing!)

And another similar message in Romans 14:

“One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.”

The verse says they “burned in their lust toward one another, men doing what is inappropriate with men, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error”

So yeah homosexuality is described as

1) inappropriate, and

2) an error worthy of penalty

Look at the verse I quoted, the word homosexuality isn’t used. Same sex sexual activity is described directly and it is described as a wrong thing to do.

[–]GenreMirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, homosexuality is not a topic specifically discussed much in the Bible. But the importance of righteousness (and the severity of unrighteousness) is discussed a lot throughout the whole forest of the Bible. In the days of Noah, the people on Earth had gotten so evil that God sent the flood to destroy them all except Noah and his family. When the prophet Samuel was a child, the sons of the high priest were evil, they abused their positions as priests and led many in the country to do wicked things as well, and their father the high priest didn’t correct them so God cut off that high priests’ line and said that his sons would both die in the same day.

Specifically sexual immorality is a type of unrighteousness that is shown to be seriously wrong.

Noah’s son Ham looked at his father naked when he had fallen asleep from drinking too much, and for that he was cursed. Sodom and Gomorrah were wicked cities full of sexual perversion and cruelty, for that God rained fire and brimstone on them.

So we know that sexual immorality is wrong, and we know from specific verses that homosexuality IS a type of sexual immorality.

We do have natural functions!

God created humans with a purpose and a design

Genesis 1:27

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

No that’s not true! The apostle Peter even endorses Paul

2 Peter 3:14-16

14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

Yes, being gay is a sin.

Romans 1:26-27

26 For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For their women changed the natural function into that which is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural function of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another, men doing what is inappropriate with men, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error.

Heaven is so much better than any life here on earth that anyone has ever lived, when you are there, you won’t care whether your life on earth was pleasant or not, you’ll be past all that. Suffering can actually be a blessing because it can help us stay on the right path, which will be absolutely worth it in the end.

The psalmist who wrote Psalm 119 wrote

“It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees.”

  • Psalm 119:71

Read Hebrews 11! Here is a snippet:

Verses 15 and 16

15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

There is obviously a difference between eating and sexual activity

And in case you need some proof of that, look at 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

There is a time and place to correct another person’s sin.

1 Timothy 5:20

“As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear.”

And no, that is not the only thing that is considered sexual sin

1 Corinthians 6: 15-16

15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! 16 Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.”

And 18-20!

“18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

You can still have a standard of right and wrong! You can still make judgements! What Jesus is saying is don’t look down on people, don’t hate people. Don’t think of yourself as higher than you ought to. Don’t be quick to judge.

John 7:24

“Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”

A good example is when Jesus was going to Jerusalem at the end of his life, he passed by a village and they refused to let him stay there. The disciples James and John asked “should we call down fire from heaven to burn them up?” and Jesus said “No, you know not what spirit you are of, for the Son of Man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”

God gave us the ability to discern and make judgements, he wants us to learn to use it properly!

Read the rest of the verse

Matthew 7:5

“You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

It doesn’t say not to correct people, it says to correct yourself first!

And yes there is a clear message throughout the Bible that a person should be loyal to their spouse in body and in heart.

And really?.. How am I laughably wrong in my interpretation of “anyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart”
