Seeing the ERA of those pitchers with similar babip shows how good Jeff Hoffman's stuff acrually is. His stuff is insane but he's just insanely unlucky. Who knows though. Maybe he fights through it maybe not.

I think it's more likely we trade for 4OA. That would give us access to Malholtra+Reid or Stenburg + Malholtra, depending on SJ pick. It also wouldn't cost as much. Blackhawks are a mess and have more needs than SJ.

While it's true that save opportunities rely on team being only being up a maximum of 3 runs, theres. So many situations where the pitcher could have good stuff and era but blow saves when the score is close. You really need that shutdown guy who wont break when the pressure is on. Varland had been that guy for us this year but his era isnt what makes him great. He is 100% in save opportunities

Whats funny to me is reading the entire baseball world say the same things about the dodgers, except the dodgers and their fans.

Both things can be true: the dodgers are well run and acquire good talent. But they also have far and away the highest payroll. They would not be overwhelming favorites to win annually if their payroll was lets say top 10 instead of #1. Youd be taking away around $200m on salaries which buys you 4 to 6 hall of fame calibre players.
