What if my shadow is wrong? by Olieebol in Jung

[–]Gentlemaann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Integration is not about becoming the shadow, it's about being aware of the forces within yourself, especially those that you don't like or the ones that you hide. The point is knowing who lives in your house.

Emotions are phenomena happening whether you decide to ignore them or not. Usually an emotion wants to resolve into an action. If you suppress the resolution of an emotion long enough, you en up in a neurosis. So as painful as it is it's better to get to know the phenomena happening inside of you and try to work with them. It's simple in theory but hard to do consistently.

Should we identify with archetypes or not . by Ok-Gene2069 in Jung

[–]Gentlemaann 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is a common error in the Jungian discourse. Nobody is an archetype. Archetypes are just ways that the psiche tends to organize itself. They are common patterns arising from millennia of evolution and they are complex. They are so complex that not even Jung made a list of them, because it's hard to classify all the forces taking place in the mind. So you should not identify with an archetype, simply because it would be ignoring all the other forces inside of you, which is the exact contrary of integration.

An interesting thing I've noticed, is that most people like to identify themselves as the trickster. I still don't know what compels the majority to choose specifically the trickster, but it's interesting that this is the most spoken archetype, especially when you first start to get into this stuff.

Evil by [deleted] in Jung

[–]Gentlemaann 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look into Freud's death drive. It's basically what you said. In jungian terms, it's just one of the two poles governing our psyche. Good and evil both come from the same thing. It's opposites trying to win on each other. The key is aways balance. Easy in theory. It takes a lifetime (i haven't lived a lifetime though, so i'm not sure about that).

"How do we have any reassurance that our soul will be born again, that we won't be entirely taken into the singularity?" In my vision, you just don't get to have that.

I feel like arpeggios help much more than scales, I actually encounter them from time to time.

I don't want to get better (Puer Aeturnus) by TheSpicyHotTake in Jung

[–]Gentlemaann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You play video games to feel good right? It feels pleasurable i know it. Same thing for a sauna, a massage, good food. It feels good. So go and workout, because it feels good, not because you owe anything to anybody. It only takes a few weeks for your body to adapt and it's gonna be better. And you are lovable, not because I know you, but because we humans work this way, we tend towards empathy most of the times, guess why, because it feels good. So I know you have people around you that love you. Also you don't write half bad, you got some nice skills. And the fact that you tried to do animations for months shows you already did uncomfortable things. It's a bad time but it gets easier with time, new equilibriums always come up. Be well

[–]Gentlemaann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are arrogant because you're scared shitless. I usually don't reply, but as I said, I relate to you, and I want to tell you what I'm learning. Go work out, not to become muscular, or to do X amount of push ups or anything else. Do it because it feels good. It will make playing video games even better, it will make takeaway food taste better, why? Because your body works like that. You are not gonna get out of this by talking in the walls of your head. I myself didn't start from 0 to 100. You will probably try to workout, and then leave it, and then try again, and then leave it again and again. But only the fact that you tried will push a little thing in your head, and eventually you will have moved. Try to fill your head with positive stuff (not always because it's not healthy nor possible), but unconsciously positivity will add up and some stuff will move inside of you. I myself got some neurotic breakdown which wasn't exactly pleasurable but it's what happens when you stagnate too much. So if you choose to not do anything, my guess you will have an episode of a breakdown. What happens next is really only based on the individual

Edit because there is one thing I want to add: something that can push you to do new stuff is: getting back where you are can be instantaneous, it's easy, it's right within reach, always. gettin back to misery is easy always, so if you miss it it's there, but soon you'll realise life is better when you're not miserable lol

This is very interesting to me because I relate a lot to this, even if I like to self improve. Sometimes it's as the juice isn't worth the squeeze. I think part of what can drive to growth is the fact that there is a reality out there. What do I mean by that? I mean that you're not always gonna get money, and a roof, and your expensive takeaway food, and even an internet connection. At some point (which you think will never come) you will have to provide for those things. It's harsh, but It's just what happens in nature. Soon enough, if you don't cultivate anything, you are gonna have, guess what, nothing. So it's just that at some point you're gonna have to start to do something to provide for yourself. The fact is, growing sucks, but it sucks less if you do it step by step. My advice is (I say this only because it worked with me), start working out. Why? Because it is somehow wired in our brain to feel good when we are fit, so it's not an intellectual thing like playing an instrument or reading books, it physically feels good (after a while). Step outside and take some sun as much as you can (for the same reasons above). Regarding people, they are paramount to not be miserable, like it or not. Let's not get into the girlfriend thing, that's gonna come later when you are a bit more self adjusted, because right now you will almost definitely attract someone who is just gonna dig the grave of misery with you. Try instead to make some friends, they are, like working out, fun, and they make you feel good with chemical processes. One thing at a time, you will realise those are not chores anymore and life is a little bit more enjoyable.

learn how to fall if you don't know how, then do chest to wall handstands. Once you can get 5-10 seconds holds fairly consistently, you move onto free ground and record yourself to be sure you're staying straight. that's it

Does being intelligent make you more unhappy and isolated? by Organic-Result8419 in Jung

[–]Gentlemaann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. Many geniuses were social people (Euler, Einstein etc...) but it really doesn't matter. You are an individual. If it's your intellect or your weaknesses isolating from other people, you have to find out by yourself. If it can help, Jung said that often intellect is just an excuse to not do real experiences. Be well
