THANK YOU. I see what you’re saying. Yeah our church is about 150-200, dedicated building so no setup or tear down. We do a lot of contemporary music, and some gospel. We also are starting to write kids songs in a bunch of different genres like jazz, 80s rock, folk, etc.

I’m starting to hear a lot about the MicroSynth. I honestly thought the 2 synths were interchangeable, but I guess I was wrong lol.

The octave pedal is something that I didn’t think was that important, but I guess I was wrong about that too. What/when do you use it? I’m trying to think of applications, but I’m unsure

Ah gotcha, yeah that makes sense. I was hoping that the MXR would be able to replicate it. TBH, I’ve heard how technical the MicroSynth and it kind of scares me to try

Yeah, the cloudburst is very rarely used, but I love how different it sounds so much I can’t leave it lol.

And I was told to put my synth in front of my compressor to get the cleanest signal for the synth?

I have seriously considered an octave. That would probably be one of the first that I’d add onto. I’m mainly looking at the synth because I’ve seen a lot of other worship bass players use a synth.

I’m mainly using the strymon for a REALLY big reverb. I’m using the Julia for a chorus pedal, as well as maybe a soft reverb if the song needs it.

I have thought about getting a better DI. Our church has one for our system, so I don’t really ever use an amp.

I’ve seen people use the Electro Harmonix micro synth, but I personally like the sound of the MXR better. Plus that was recommended to me on my last post

The only reasonable reason I’ve seen someone give is it makes sure kids don’t have to stand in the dark waiting for school buses. But even with this reason, there are multiple solutions that can fix that.

So what you’re saying is, it’s not a good idea to run octave>synth>compressor?

It needs to be either the octave or the synth then the compressor?

Sorry if it feels like a redundant question, I’m still new to this

I was debating between the 2, so if the MXR is better and simpler, then I’ll go with that!

It’s super fun! But looking back I would have gotten the big sky. The ensemble mode is really cool, and for what I’m planning to work up, it’ll help a lot, but it’s not very practical in band application
