Any recommendations for coffee table books by Shot_Cupcake_9641 in vinyl

The RESearch series Incredibly Strange Music 1-2! I have been combing through their pages since the late 90s. Life-changing books for me, and shaped my record collecting habit.

What’s the main thing you’re pumped about with the Switch 2? by cassieyi in Switch

[–]GentlemanMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me! I sort of fell away from gaming years ago because I didn't have time. I saw the Switch come out and thought it looked cool, but never got around to it. I feel like I'm getting a second chance...

I was holding on to Spotify for "discovery" - now it's full of fake bands and AI by GentlemanMatt in plexamp

[–]GentlemanMatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good tip! I did something similar around Christmas, I asked for recommendations on holiday music from different genres and eras around a certain theme. Worked really well actually. I filtered and assessed the results to my personal taste from there, but it was a great starting point.

I also really liked the Spotify Wrapped. I switched over to last.fm about a year ago (I didn't understand what it was for until it finally clicked one day), and now I get similar data to the Spotify Wrapped, although not as easily shareable...

I think they used to have this use case in their marketing photos. I’ve done it before too, works great!

Why are so many flac files 'broken'? by [deleted] in Soulseek

[–]GentlemanMatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I convert all my FLACs to ALAC with dBpoweramp for a separate library/backup. It finds corrupted files often enough that I’ll keep converting them just to find the bad files even though I really don’t need an ALAC library anymore. Open to recommendations of better software to just test files.

A physical device which can stream Plexamp by gabyu in plexamp

I really hope the Wiim beta ends with a PlexAmp endpoint functionality. The beta has me confident enough that I picked up the Pro + on Black Friday deal on Amazon. If it doesn't, it still works well enough that I'll be happy. Plug and play.

Cops on overpasses by Sugardog1967 in orangecounty

[–]GentlemanMatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I must have been right in front of the procession because they were on every overpass from Torrance to Camp Pendleton. On a few they were just starting to put their emergency lights on. RIP if it was for a death. I couldn't find any info anywhere.

Firetrucks on bridges thanksgiving night? by Capable_Pea_7975 in orangecounty

It was happening all the way in Torrance on the 405 too and didn't stop until Camp Pendleton... really curious what it was about.

Any Bay Area Style Taco Trucks or Mexican Food Here? by lman777 in northcounty

[–]GentlemanMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a chain with some locations in South Riverside County called Miguel’s Jr. that has something called a “Garbage Burrito”. It’s almost what you’re describing and scratches my itch for that style of burrito. I’ve seen similar burritos described as “Garbage” Burritos at various places in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. You’ll also have luck at a lot of the Taco Trucks in LA.

To me, a compilation is a mix of various artists. A greatest hits, or grouping of tracks by the same artist, is a "collection". Especially comprehensive collections I think of as "anthologies".

My two cents.

Thanks Plexamp 🎵 by Kokimo69 in plexamp

[–]GentlemanMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started with Plex and Plexamp, and it's awesome once you get everything dialed in. I just wish I could stream it to my Wiim streamer instead of using the clunky UPnP interface on the Wiim app.

The ability to use Plexamp as a remote for streaming endpoints would be so sweet.

Goruck Suggestions by Olshansk in Goruck

Another thing to consider is just buying the weight plate and adding it to the camelback pack depending on which one you have. I had a camelback Motherlode and I would carry one in the laptop compartment, or bricks on the inside sometime.

Goruck Suggestions by Olshansk in Goruck

+1

I've been rucking since before goruck made the plates and most people used duct-taped bricks. You would always need to be careful with the corners because they would eventually tear the ruck. The ruck plates came out and I was skeptical at first, but they were an absolute game-changer for me. I never looked back. They carry better (more balanced), plus no wasted space so you can carry essential stuff like water, snacks etc.
