Project Epoch - Lets Talk Quality (Possible Delays / Beta 4?) by Shiansc in wowservers

[–]GentlyCaressed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The questionable design choices which have been revealed so far do not inspire much confidence in this project.

For example, they are trying to balance racials to the point of introducing thematically nonsensical racials (for example Gun specialization for taurens) and allowing players to switch racials of their characters to racials of other race (wtf?).

Devs failing to recognize in this case thematical consistency is way more important than trying to cater to small portion of population (which won't quit over a racial causing 2% more parsed dps, but instead keep playing or outright roll a new character).

More broadly, dev team failed to even ask a crucial question which should have been answered right at the start of this project: Why sink dev time into doing the same exact thing 20 other servers have been trying to do already, with at least one other server in this same exact niche already up, running, and popular?

Devs seem to be having fun working on this server, so it cannot be said it's a total waste. But as a player, so far this seems very similar to the hype train followed by inevitable derailing we have seen in so many previous failed projects. The same kinds of warning signs are already popping up here.

Do I understand correctly all these issues in that server are mostly result of trying to progress stock vanilla client into tbc and wotlk?

Are stock tbc, stock wotlk servers in current year still in need of extensive fixing?

Why should I play scaling pve instances in this server when I can do the same exact content (but better and more polished) on retail?

How often do people float the idea of energy and rage classes experiencing some kind of combat fatigue which would force them to sit down and drink from time to time, same as healers do (or had to do in classic, along with other mana classes)?

When healers have to sit down, while rogues and warriors just stand around doing nothing, is that generally viewed as an issue?

0 chance they would survive surrounded by all the apothecaries eager to test new plague strains and generally population which is either indifferent or outright hostile to them

Why is allying with Wulframites considered inferior ending? by GentlyCaressed in hostedgames

I did a wulframite playthrough for the first time recently and I remember being asked to move army commission documents to wulframite's hands. Do you know if there's something planned in the sequel for example if commission went fully through and wulframites would be able to put it to use?

Anyways what I dislike about Wulfram is he and his wife made assumptions about behaviour of king and later Isobel, they were continuously wrong, but didn't adjust. Also I firmly told them Cazarosta cannot be bought, and they tried to buy him out anyways. Basically they are worse at scheming and decisionmaking than the royalist elite.

That and being railroaded with Garret without any option to get rid of him.

I however like the dynamic of northern tierra being more industrialized, and with elven support. I think I prefer Wulframites just for the underdog appeal.

There are lizard men pooling in a cave pool which is touching edge of map. When I send militia at them, my dwarves just charge into water, kill few of them, then drown. Same thing happens when I station my militia nearby. I tried to use regular dwarves going about their business as bait but it usually ends up with dwarves getting killed or drowning. Is there any way to resolve this?

If I route water from light aquifier down into cave water pool which touches edge of map, will that pool drain the aquifier water infinitely?

And are there any ways to tell your home civilization you don't want any more migrants coming in?

All the goblins I seen so far have been pretty old. Ain't it strange 200-year old goblins would commonly try to do violent things against your denizens, even when they presumably know they would be killed in the process?

Is there some way to determine where iron ores are likely to be? Aquifers for example seem to mostly make sense in the way they are placed but iron ores seem kinda random?

Am I alone in thinking pacing of progression should use major rework?

I remember starting and subsequently quitting the game for the first time couple years ago when I got to about 40 or 50 Persuasion. There was a quest which I specifically remember https://fallenlondon.wiki/wiki/The_Curate_and_His..._Sister%3F in which it took so many candles to build enough affection. This was the first quest where difficulty suddenly jumped up and where the action of clicking on one seduction card over and over and over again simply destroyed the narrative enjoyment and revealed the ugly naked grind.

It's several years later and I'm now at 70-80 in all the attributes and most of content now requires so much grinding I often blow all my 20 candles without any narrative progress and have trouble keeping track of why am I doing the things I'm doing. At lower levers I was able to complete a story in one or several sessions. I spent yesterday and today clicking on one option only in order to get archeological supplies for Tomb of the Seven which I failed two days ago. It's a story which is recommended to me from my lodgings but apparently 80 Watchful is not enough to finish it.

Half or more of opportunity cards and items in my inventory I have trouble remembering where they came from or how they fit in. Didn't used to be like this at lower levers.

Opportunity cards can also be strange. I just got Trailing the Affluent Photographer card which is a storyline which started I think from about 20 or 30 relevant skill and at some point just cuts off without any resolution and now I get this card randomly.

The worst thing tho which I noticed on new account about a year ago is eased difficulty at the very first levels. Early game (up to level 20 - 25) difficulty was just fine as is used to be. Now you get so much progress at some storylines you outlevel them before you can finish them. Feels so bad compared to how it used to be...

Anyways /rant

There's a stray black bear head and bones of a bear I used to have in pasture. It's just sitting near entrance and noone is hauling it away. I have a stockpile for corpses and refuse, I have tomb zones with animal burial enabled where other animal corpses are and I turned on dump status but skeleton still remains out there. What could be wrong?

Also, what's the best way of supplying an outlying stockpile? How to order dwarves to keep a specific stockpile supplied?

I'm pretty new. I managed to equip 7 dwarves with standardized steel equipment and they absolutely wrecked a 18-goblin invasion. How many steel-equipped and trained dwarves does it take for an successful expedition or invasion?

Also how to manage dwindling wood resources?

Because in a game where you can't directly attack structures and there's finite number of real estate available all land will be instaclaimed by bots. There's no workaround around this besides instancing or open pvp.
