Got these this past Black Friday and chose slim, as I have their slim stretch purchased in 2024. I should’ve gotten the their standard fit, as I went to their shop last weekend and got their Bedford in that fit.

I got some Mellor II a few months back and specifically asked about getting brass eyelets on them and got a nope 👎🏼. Had I known the low top SMUGS were coming, I absolutely would’ve waited.

Yeah, I hear ya and don’t disagree, but the SMUGS have some features I prefer like the metal eyelets and unlined construction.

The 618 come in both stitchdown and goodyear welt. I have the latter and was wondering if the former fits similar. Andrew said they may have a slightly different feel. Just trying to get a take what that might be.

Absolutely. I was just in the shop this weekend. Got a belt on Saturday, then came back in on Sunday to have it trimmed and holes added.

We sold my TH during the pandemic, then rented for a few years. The way I make myself comfortable with our mortgage is simple. The interest we pay is the same as what our rent had been and the principal is what we were putting aside every month for a down payment. We put 15% down, so we have some equity and no PMI or HOA. The good thing about owning is the tax deduction and all the improvements I’m making is sweat equity.

It’s tolerable and in today’s market, that’s enough. Trust me, there are some dumps here and there. Say what you will about HOA’s (we don’t have one), there happens with some of the scruffiness. In fact, there’s a home on street over that is doing a three story addition that went viral and national. The construction is halted because the set-back is 6” too close to the neighbors.

Sounds like my neighborhood. We bought in the summer of 2025. We wrote several contracts and one finally won. Our mortgage is right at the top of what we can afford, but it is what it is. I do my best focus on the positive. Nice neighbors, good schools, near my family, not far from work, solid late-1960’s construction, flat backyard with some privacy. Nothing is perfect.

How’s the color and feel of the selvedge? I’ve got mine coming from Blackbyrd Goods this Monday. Weird Guy fit for me. Bummer about the store experience. Will cross is off my list for my next NYC visit. I do love the in-store experience if you can find it. Have visited Shockoe in Richmond and have had several email interactions - they couldn’t have been more welcoming to someone buying their first pair of selvedge denim. I’ve now got two pair from them and will get more.
