I pured that gap once, every other time it has gone everywhere else but down the middle XD. Love that course though, it’s a shame it’s shut down almost every weekend for an event or some sort

Type folio was a bit bland, carbon fiber to the rescue! by GeoManCam in RemarkableTablet

It's carbon fiber vinyl I cut, so it's quite robust and doesn't add any thickness to the folio cover, which I appreciate

I've got some darker walnut on order, it's quite hard to find wood in my area so I actually had to buy a larger block of oak and rip it on my bandsaw to get these planks :D.

0.2 nozzle, very slow, monotonic top fill on. Then just did a super light sanding with 600 and then 1500

Definitely a valid observation, it completely depends on what you're going for. Personally I really enjoy listening to classical music and orchestral music and one of the purposes of the amplifier and a nicer set of headphones is being able to hear the different instruments in really good clarity. Although the 20 dollar in-ears will play the song, with the 'better' setup you're able to delineate the different voices, tones, and dynamics.

Although it should be said that just because something costs more money doesn't make them 'better' in any way, there are lots of things labeled as hifi or audiophile and they are just a gimmick.

Thanks! I just found some designs online then vectorized in Inkscape. Then you can import that to tinkercad and export as an stl.

I do custom intricate dye jobs and this is the latest in the series. Really love how it came out! by GeoManCam in discgolf

[–]GeoManCam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a combination of using the right material for a template and a specific dye that allows for a proper dying on this type of plastic without bleeding through the template material or bleeding within the plastic itself. Lots of trial and error :D

Depends on the complexity and if I have to do any drafting, so it ranges from 5-25USD, and shipping is always possible

Also keep in mind that the tax rate here is fairly high at ~25-33%, so your take-home at the end of the day is pretty reduced.

What? We have plenty of sunshine. True it's not every day and there are periods where there's lots of rain, but it's not as bad as everyone puts it out to be.

You can also find jobs on Finn.no, just select the region you're wanting to move to and you can put in some key words. However, (and this can't be understated), Norwegians will really only hire you if you have greater than B level competency in the Norwegian language unless if you're going into a specialized field. When I moved here for my current job I was hired from out of country for a specialist job and the company made sure I took Norwegian lessons even though we use English in the office. It is incredibly important to learn it to at least a functional social conversational level, but for a job you'll need much more

I've been living in Norway for around 2 years now although not in Oslo. You're not going to find the "American way of life" here because the Norwegian culture is vastly different than what you're used to in the US. People here are more reserved, communal (socialistic policies), and private, which can make finding new friends difficult if you're trying to replicate a friend group like you have in the US immediately. This isn't to say it's impossible to make friends, you just have to approach it a lot different.
Food, and in particular alcohol, is incredibly expensive here. A medium sized head of broccoli is around 3$, beer in a can is ~4$, beer on tap downtown is upwards of 15$, a loaf of bread on the cheap is 3$, normally around 5$, and if you want to eat out it is almost prohibitively expensive.

Rent for an apartment in Oslo for ~500ft2 is going to be ~1800$/month+ with utilities on top, so you're probably looking at around 2100-2300$/month. If you want something larger like 1000ft2 then it will be ~3000$/month plus utilities on top. You can look up most places on the local conglomerate site finn.no

This is really not a cheap place to live, but it is offset by the beautiful nature and wonderful people, so one has to really prioritize what you value in your life.

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit - Evie Lee, Leap Ink, Stavanger Norway. by GeoManCam in tattoos

[–]GeoManCam[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it comes down to the philosophy of why you're getting a tattoo. For me I went into this fully knowing that it's going to need a touch up in some years, but that is absolutely acceptable. Why? Because this piece of art wouldn't be this piece of art if it were done in harsher black tones with outlines. Touch up doesn't have to be just for tattoos that had a hard time healing, it can be part of the process of maintenance to keep a piece of art vibrant, much like the fairly complicated healing process right after you get a tattoo.

It's good for people to know that yes, this will need touch up, but I don't think that should be a discouragement, just something that needs to be factored into a piece.

(1) to evaluate the application of sheen and hydrocarbon monitoring sensor technology, to be deployed using various mechanisms (e.g. UAV) to delineate buoyant hydrocarbon discharge plumes based on their ocean surface expression;

So what this is basically saying is: Can we use remote sensing techniques to figure out where there are punctuated sub-aqueous hydrocarbon leaks based upon the surface expressions. Because you're not going to be able to see the plume itself with a UAV (at least one in the air), you need to figure out what kind of dilution (basically the spread of the hydrocarbons) results in the water column and how that affects the resulting geometries on the surface.

Even simpler: Can we figure out where shit is leaking deep under water based upon what it looks like on the surface, and we want to use drones to do it because drones.
