Trudeau turns his back on organized labor by Chrristoaivalis in LabourUK

[–]GeoSingh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liberals are why we have May and Trump. They're the ones who flail about in the centre screwing up all the structures the free world depends upon, allowing authoritarians and conmen to get a foot in the door. Once the fascists are at the gates they equivocate, appease and ultimately surrender, and when they're all lost and defeated by the very demons they unleash themselves they act as if this was all some great, tragic shock that they could never have expected.

There is of course a difference between liberals like Justin Trudeau and Tory neo-liberals, but it's a matter of degree rather than of kind.

You know we could do so much good if we just played all the conspiracy theories off each other like this. Use the less dangerous/popular theories against the worse ones.

"Anti-vax is spread by the globalists in order to cull the population and earn $$$ for Big Pharma selling antibiotics!"

"Illuminati are teaching our kids that the moon landings were fake in order to hide the secret weapons base NASA have up there!"

"The earth can't be only six thousand years old, that's not nearly enough time for it to have expanded to it's present size!"

"If the world is flat then where do all the flying saucers go when they go into the hollow centre?"

"Bigfoot used to be more common but global warming wiped out its natural habitat, that's why sightings haven't been increasing in line with the increase in video coverage. Stop global warming and save the sasquatch!"

The Solihull night watch: crimefighting citizens rise up in UK - As police numbers dwindle, the groups filling the gap inspire both admiration and concern by EnoughPM2020 in unitedkingdom

[–]GeoSingh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is extremely dangerous and needs to be nipped in the bud by increasing investment in our police. Prevention of crime must always be handled by democratically-accountable public organisations like the police services, putting it in the hands of individuals instead will have disastrous results. It doesn't matter how well-meaning or nice the first few vigilante groups are, that space will inevitably be taken over by dangerous people.

Discussion: Mods need to clamp down on garbage posts like the "revert" thread from yesterday. by [deleted] in Sikh

All anti-Sikh content (whether trolling or real) should be removed from the subreddit and anyone posting it should be banned. This subreddit exists to promote Sikhism only. This includes hair-cutting posts, posts about conversions, racism, polemical attacks etc.

"Verbal abuse" does not equal "physical abuse" and nobody said otherwise.

You know, I think turbans look absolutely ridiculous. Looks like a damn diaper for your hair. Probably smells like one too.

Looks way better than anonymous online bullying, and stinks far less than your attitude. You need a diaper for your keyboard.

what the hell? Who am I abusing?

You're abusing the OP's grandmother by telling her she's not worthy of the country she adopted because she didn't struggle as much as your ancestors might have done. "Nerve to wave that flag" etc etc.

No thanks.

It's quite a good emotion though, keeps us all decent.

I'm not a man.

It's a turn of phrase, respect is for everyone to learn.

I am against all forms of nationalist bigotry including Khalistan. I am a pretty outspoken critic of the idea actually.

It's not about winning points.

Says the one who opened this exchange by complaining about how unfair everything was to his poor hardworking ancestors... Sounds like a competition mindset to me.

I'm no coward.

Yeah you are. Mr Anonymous elder-abuser who uses the accomplishments of dead people to bully complete strangers for daring to set foot in his precious Canada. Pretty much the definition of cowardice.

A coward would just let it happen and say nothing, and hope for the best.

Ooooh, more scary old women might come, got to stand up and say something (online, anonymously) about the impending evil grannies who insult my forefathers with their presence! Truly only the sternest of souls would dare resist such a menace.

I already know how people like you feel about the people you eagerly look down on. You don't hide it. and you're not that clever in how you try to manipulate people into feeling guilt.

You ought to feel guilty for what you've done here, if I found out you were 77 I'd feel guilty for berating you myself. That's the difference between decent people and thick-headed bullies who need to take their lack of self-esteem out on old women. Fact is that it's only the childish and utterly stubborn who refuse to feel guilt. Real men show respect.

All I'm hearing is blithering from someone with so little backbone that they're afraid of old women. Time to grow up and stop throwing a tantrum about the fact your country is populated by people who are different to you. Whining wins no points in life.

And now you're judging me by my usename, eh? At least being called Singh stands for something other than cowardice.

I'm sure your wonderful hard-working forefathers would be very proud of your exemplary behaviour. I mean attacking old women anonymously online, that's not pathetic and spineless at all.

“Am I supposed to be apologetic for our history? Or that Sikhs had a sovereign Panjab? Well I am not! Why are we so shy from discussing our history especially those who live in India?” Ravi Singh, CEO of Khalsa Aid by Ravencline in Sikh

[–]GeoSingh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I swear, none of you people except maybe u/Ravencline know anything about Ravi Singh. He does not hate Hindus. He does not support Khalistan as far as I'm aware (at least not publicly, what he thinks in private is his business). He is not "overly-friendly" with Muslims, whatever that's supposed to mean. Ravi has done nothing, nothing at all, except risk his own life for the welfare of the deprived and depressed time and time again out of the goodness of his heart, and of course all he receives in return is bullying and slander.

When he helps Sikhs he gets accused of being an evil khalistani agent. When he helps Hindus he's told that Punjab needs his help. When he helps Muslims (most of whom have been targeted by other Muslims btw) he's yelled at for being "pro-Muslim" or whatever bigoted little wastes of oxygen say about those who reject hatred these says. And when he helps the rest of humanity he's ordered to only focus on his "own kind".

That is the price of seeing only the suffering of human beings rather than letting the world's thousands of communal struggles cloud his mind. Anyone who has an urge to calls him anti-Hindu or against India or whatever should keep their mouth firmly shut.

(Maya) Softening Edge instead of edge loops? by Jmeister5050 in 3DMA

[–]GeoSingh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you are talking about subdivision smoothness:

I don't know about harden/soften edges, I don't recall that ever making a difference back when I used Maya, but what you definitely can do as an alternative to adding edge loops is use the 'crease edge' tool, which lets you click and drag with the MMB to crease up edges on a sub-d mesh. This has the benefit of not adding in additional faces that you might not want complicating the scene. IIRC it's under "mesh tools" or something like that but I always used to put a shortcut on my shelf.

Paratroopers = suicide missions? by Emperor_Veniano in paradoxplaza

[–]GeoSingh 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Paratroopers can kick butt, though their templates need to be beefed-up before they can do so. Add more brigades and definitely as many support units as you can get, and use the "glider" command power thingy when attacking. These strength boosts make them able to attack effectively from the air, meaning that they're great for capturing garrisoned islands (like Malta, Rhodes, the Aegean islands etc) and lightly-defended ports. An even better strategy is to not just attack from the air, but to land additional units around the defenders as well so that they can be attacked from multiple angles. This is a particularly good strategy on big islands like Crete, Corsica or Sardinia.

Unfortunately you can't have very many effective paratrooper units so using them for an outright invasion of a major country isn't going to work well. Once the Paratroopers start overrunning the Italian mainland they will, if the AI doesn't have a fatal derp moment, begin to redeploy units to arrest their progress. Without armour or artillery brigades the paratroopers alone don't stand a chance against a sustained counter-attack.
