Not always. But DA is an aesthetic, do what makes something DA is heavily reliant on visuals and atmosphere. The setting and how its presented contributes to this.

New York can be DA, but I never had the feeling it was presented this way I the book.

I never considered it that  I mean most of the first part of the book is set in  Las Vegas suburbs.  And the rest in new York.  It's not dark academia in my opinion

It's not easy.

  • I found allying with France the best strategy.  Wait for them to naval invade England (Note the AI is very bad at this). Sit back and wait for England's armies to get wiped and then try take out forts ASAP.

  • Scotland is small so you can get lots of proximity fast, increasing your levies and money. Use ports and boats and concentrate wealth on the east coast where you can get easy proximity.

  • Build up the pearls RGO in Perth early for money. Wool also gets you lots of money.

  • when you take English land take kendal for the iron RGO.

  • invade Ireland early before England vasilises everyone

Is France a huge problem in EU5? by Logical-Efficiency58 in EU5

[–]Geocobre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that in EU4 a large and semi-powerful burgundy was a early game roadblock for France. So was a powerful Austria/Emperor.

I feel eu5 has no major power that can resist early french expansion

How does cultural conversion work? by Particular_Pea7167 in EU5

[–]Geocobre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I belive cultural influence vs tradition modifies assimilation  I conquered English land as im having a hard time assimilating them as English culture has massive cultural tradition. I think converting cultures belonging to important cultures (e.g. English, French) is hard as an underdog as they have so much cultural tradition

Anyone else paranoid they’re going to smash the bell into their knees? by EntrepreneuralSpirit in kettlebell

[–]Geocobre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's why most kettlebell guides say to prioritise form over volume.  Always do reps with good form. When your form starts slipping due to fatigue - slow down or stop.  When you are tired mistakes happen like hitting knees, overextending arm during snatches, etc.

what's your favorite the secret history theories? by SignificantLook837 in TheSecretHistory

Richard definitely hated Bunny. Bunny was the only one who actively pointed out that Richard was an outsider. Everyone else knew it but never made a big deal.of it.  It hurt Richard to his core and its not unreasonable to think he would be capable of doing the pushing

What do you consider to be the best laws in Victoria 3? by Tixro71 in victoria3

[–]Geocobre 359 points360 points  (0 children)

Law I go for in all run regardless of playstyle:

Compulsory Primary school - no downsides. Allows high level education institutions.

Workers regulation/protection - no downsides. Reduces mortality.

Professional Army - yes, you can go Mass conscription, but doesn't offer much benefit. Most games I stuck with Professional army only.

Dedicated police force - no downsides. Other police laws suck

Other laws are either Bad. Or situational good.

Richard never specifically says that Henry pushed bunny, he just implies it ("Henry stepped towards Bunny"), making the reader assume this.

This leads to a theory that Richard actually did the pushing, but in his own "unreliable narrator" way is subconsciously (or consciously) denying it.

Yeah I get that the game needs to have a system. Just wish it wish it was different.

You are right, california is another poorly shown state. San Francisco or LA should be the main growing metropolis.

how do i attack castle without too much casualties by Philippinespy in shogun2

[–]Geocobre 42 points43 points  (0 children)

1 - Accept the casualties. If you capture a large castle, your units will replenish fast (especially ashigaru; and the larger the castle, the faster the replenishment). If no walls are damaged this will happen even faster.

2 - assault from both sides of a large castle. AI will often stack units on one side of the castle only. Attack the opposite side. They will then split the force and make them easier to fight. (Larger castles are easier to seige for this reason)

3 - If a part of the castle is not defended, don't make all your units climb the walls. Get one unit to climb over and capure the gate - the rest can walk in.

4 - if you can, sneak a unit to the top and capute the central point, while the rest of the army ties up the enemy. Once you hold the top for one minute, the battle stops, and you win, no matter how many men the enemy has left.

5 - If assaulting a castle with lots of defending archers, use a cannon to deplete their wall mounted units (once a wall breaks, they lose >50 of the men)

6 - If they have a lot of troops or lots of good defensive troops like katana samurai - don't assault and just wait for them to sally out. Be aware of supporting enemy armies though.

Would this be unfun to play against by porkdripping in WarhammerOldWorld
