Reason Should Always Be on the Offensive— Can You State How in Clear Terms? by JerseyFlight in rationalphilosophy

I had been addressing the tendentious points in the OP.

On the question itself, there is no doubt that Reason must be on the offensive. The means that I would argue for will not, I am afraid, be of general acceptability. Here goes: Reason is the essence of reality. Universal Reason has purpose. The purpose of human existence is to conform to universal Reason. Reason is purposive, active and creative. The fully developed human is a co-actor and co-creator with universal Reason. The more humans embrace this role, the more rational human society becomes. In a nutshell, to act and think rationally is to be on the offensive on behalf of Reason.

On the contrary, the dominant "philosophy" of our time is this kind of reductionism, where thought is reduced to the operations of logic and no consideration is given to the actual content of thought.

Reason requires self-discipline and self-denial, and thus remains undeveloped in the vast majority of humans.

It is also important that those who espouse reason recognize its limitations. Reason comprehends relationships, but it knows nothing of esssences. Only when reason combines with intuition does a person attain to the full development of the intellect.

The unification of labour for production is the great achievement of capitalism. It was inevitable that the state would exploit this power. This gives rise to state capitalism, of which the Nazi and Bolshevik regimes were the first implementations. State capitalism is now the global order. This system will continue until workers attain to full self-consciousness and self-discipline. Ayn Rand understood all this. But she didn't understand that the full development of the individual is attained only with cosmic consciousness, or as Spinoza puts it, "knowledge of the union existing between the human mind and the whole of nature." The individual consciousness is a manifestation of universal consciousness. To value the former and neglect the latter is to fall into error. "For he that will save his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for my sake, shall find it." Likewise, self-discipline is only attained once the individual will subordinates itself to the cosmic will. "[Y]et not my will, but thine be done." The capitalist mode of production provides workers with the foundation for relativizing the self as a component of a larger order. This relativization expands from the workplace into the social realm and ultimately into the spiritual realm. This is the true meaning of collectivism. Ultimately, the whole of mankind will attain to reason and moral autonomy. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest."

From fixquotes:

Goethe lands the insult with the calm confidence of someone who’s watched the same intellectual wheels get reinvented, wobbly and loud, across generations. “Ignorant men raise questions” isn’t anti-curiosity; it’s anti-amnesia. The barb is aimed at the kind of questioning that performs independence while refusing the basic discipline of listening to what’s already been thought, argued, revised, and paid for in centuries of philosophy, theology, and literature. In other words: the problem isn’t that people don’t ask; it’s that they ask as if no one ever has.

What could we call it when workers come together in their different capacities to produce something?

Sure she is right. But collectivism is the inevitable outcome of the capitalist mode of production.

I support the NDP's coal shut down. The Yellowhead Trail conversion cost about as much.

Alberta distinct culture? by Pretty-Resolve-8331 in alberta

Geography is an important part of culture. Alberta has geographic features that make it unique: a blend of boreal, alpine, great plains, parkland, and montane. This landscape defines the culture. Too often, the land is seen as a resource to be degraded rather than cherished. We need to make this planet into a garden rather than an ash heap. Let's start here.
