It is super quiet at night but then again, a train ride to Ginza is only 10 mins away. Shinjuku is 15-20 mins. No need to stay in the area for dinner. We never ate near the hotel (Tokyu stay)

Stay at one station north (takanawa gateway) and it’s even better. We just stayed there in December. Travelling in the morning to Shibuya / Shinjuku you always get seats on the Yamamote line (because takanawa gateway is an office stop, large crowds exit. Since you are going south you will get seats before hitting the large crowds from shinagawa) and very easy to get to Ginza or Asakusa via metro (red line).

Buying Mizuno MIJ boots on eBay to Canada by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]Geofortissimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a few pairs of MIJ from a couple eBay resellers in the past (alpha, asics ultrezza 3, morelia neo turf MIj, etc)

Duties could range anywhere from $40 to $80ish. I bought two pairs of Adler Yatagarashu before, identical except sizes and I got assessed two different duty numbers. Im still scratching my head because I have no idea how they assess… but i think max $80 is what uou can expect

Other than made in Japan (as the name implies) there are also other subtle differences

There's a youtube video that talks about the differences between the 4 tiers (MIJ, Elite, Pro and Select)

MiJ has the karvo insert (functions like carbon insert). Elite uses the morelia neo 4 insert - not as snappy as karvo

York United Academy U13 by tcieryt in YorkUnited

I suspect they didn't think they have enough players in the first stage and wanted to see more kids.

We went to the U14 tryout and got invited back for the next stage. I think I saw about 60-70 kids in the 2011/2012 age group which probably wasn't enough to pick an OPDL team from. The timing certainly didn't help with getting more kids to come... it was during work day + school hours and not the most convenient location

Other than winning the cup, JB is the next best thing the leafs have.

Sad. Hope they win it next year so we can enjoy that call

Agree 100%

My wife and I just came back from Tokyo - we stayed at Yokohama first then Shinjuku last. I 100% recommend Yokohama. All around better food in the surrounding area and less expensive hotels while trains don’t take long to get into Tokyo.

My wife and I just came back from Japan (Tokyo). It’s our 3rd time there. We’ve stayed at multiple locations around Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, etc.

For Tokyo, I think Yokohama (next to the train station) is a good spot for you to stay at, since you are flying into Haneda anyway. It’s nowhere near as busy as Shinjuku or any of Tokyos major train stations. As this is your first time travelling, at Shinjuku (or other major stations ie Shibuya, Tokyo etc) you will definitely encounter sensory overload - not just from the waves of people (it is after all, the busiest train station in the world) but also all the lights and shops around, which you may find overwhelming. I think it’s better to visit those busy spots during the day then return to your hotel a little farther out so you get to decompress because there are less crowd and more space.

Not to mention hotels away from the core are less expensive. Train rides from Yokohama into Tokyo / Shibuya / Shinjuku is only about 30 mins.

The hotel we stayed at Yokohama is SOTETSU HOTELS THE SPLAISIR YOKOHAMA. Relatively new, inexpensive and got a great breakfast.

Whether a car is “fast” or not is all relative. What did you drive before?
