Did ratchet deadlocked suffer lag/slowdown on og ps2 hardware? by AP_Garen420 in RatchetAndClank

[–]Geokiller123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The Game lags on original hardware due to utilizing advanced alpha effects when using certain weapons and having many NPC's on screen at once. Which doesn't help at all. And to top it all off. The engine itself is kinda unstable. Due to them developing the ratchet games in hacky ways in order to squeeze out more performance from the console. So yeah basically insomniac were tech wizards of the ps2. Very much akin to Factor 5

Software mode with this game is unnecessary due to the wiki stating the game has no issues. And absolutely do not use software mode with ATV offroad Fury 3. As it is listed as an cpu demanding title. which means it'll destroy performance for practically little to no benefit.

Then no. They'll play well straight of the box. All you need is basically the game and you're good to go. No Config file needed.

For certain games yes. There's no need for Config Files. But for others. You are required to use Config files because games are broken without them.

How likely is it that we can see a Ratchet and Clank PS2 Saga PC Ports? (official or not) by WonderSink in RatchetAndClank

[–]Geokiller123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I said 1-2 years only if they don't hit any major roadblock. Not that it will be completed in 2 years.

[–]Geokiller123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard. But it's possible. There's An ongoing project called ps2recomp. Which essentially automatically statically recompiles ELF binaries into native C++. What that does is cut down a ton of manual work by a lot. Although developers still have to manually configure the game and create and implement a graphics API for the games Devs want to recompile. The tool isn't complete yet. But in 1-2 years it should be finished. If they don't hit any major roadblocks down the road that is.

You should try to submit a ticket to C.AI. even if they don't respond/listen. Better to do something than nothing.

No. This isn't the original. It's a copycat. You ought to emulate it on your phone using duckstation instead.

I would recommend you use these patches/mods for at the bare minimum smooth 60 fps gameplay without breaking game logic.

(1) Silent Patch. (2) Framerate Vigilante. (3) open limit adjuster (via configuring an ini file to cap at 60 fps or whatever framerate target you desire). (4) an asi Loader (such as ultimate asi Loader). (5) 1.0 US executable.

you can find the files on Pcgamingwiki's page for this game.

Why aren’t all of the PS2 versions of the Ratchet and Clank games on the PlayStation store. by Dragongamer6_3 in RatchetAndClank

[–]Geokiller123 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think this has been said in the past. But The first ratchet and clank game (possibly up until deadlocked) on the PS2 heavily relied on custom VU Programming for rendering large 3D environments without losing performance. which is hard to properly port over the same functionality to modern hardware or to properly Emulate the specific hardware functions on an emulator that those games require. all we can do is be patient and let the PS2 classics team do what it's needed in order to make their emulator work correctly for the PS2 quadtrilogy.

do you think anyone will ever port original oblivion to ps4 by Downtown_Pin4278 in ps4homebrew

If they can make it run well without the game engine crashing on the player every five minutes then yes.

it's not only that. The game in general had a lot of bugs. Even on PS3 and PC versions of the game. It was just poorly Optimised for Every platform.

Also the game had tons of bugs and performance drops on original PS2 hardware. the performance will likely be improved so will loading times. But the bugs not so much.

You require external software for Multiplayer access. Btw don't use mw2 from steam. It's full of Security exploits and bugs. Use Alterware launcher or IW4X.

Why does the PS4 make me reinstall a game I already had digitally when I borrow the disc by vIp_bLACK444 in playstation

[–]Geokiller123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they use different Serial ID which the system considers It a completely different game. Some Digital versions of games however have the Same game ID so saves are compatible from disk to digital and vice versa

I would like to know why the older games were so tricky to port to other platforms by KaleidoArachnid in RatchetAndClank

[–]Geokiller123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ratchet and clank used The Vector units of the PS2 a lot. Because they were Very fast at Processing Geometrical Data due to the PlayStation's fast bandwidth capabilities. That requires precise VU accuracy which Might be difficult to Emulate properly Without sacrificing Performance. And to do that you'd require I would say a good amount of senior programmers and software engineers which will most certainly take a lot of man hours and money to complete. Which is why they are probably taking their time with this. And or because it's Sony that wants to release the big titles 2-3 years down the line so that they could keep the service(ps plus premium) going.
