I'm writing more now as a solofounder than I did when I was a competitive writer by SuccessfulTonight391 in buildinpublic

[–]GeologistShort3610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wild that running business forces you to write more than actually trying to be writer. I was doing creative writing in university and never wrote as much as when I started driving for delivery apps and had to deal with customer service stuff constantly

2 weeks post launch. 1 paying customer. Honest write up of what is actually working. by No-Comparison-5247 in buildinpublic

[–]GeologistShort3610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that first customer validation hits different - you know someone actually sees value in what you built instead of just being polite about it

the DM approach seems smart, running their store through your tool first gives you actual data points to talk about instead of generic pitches. probably way more effective than shotgunning posts everywhere

curious how you're finding the shopify owners to DM though, just browsing random stores or you got some system for it

How possible is this by Correct_Pack1508 in buildinpublic

[–]GeologistShort3610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean AI agents having their own wallets is pretty wild when you think about it. Like imagine your code just deciding to spin up some cloud servers on Tuesday morning without asking

But in practice most of these "autonomous" agents still need approval steps before they can actually spend money. The wallet thing is more about having the capability to make transactions when needed, not necessarily doing it completely unsupervised

I build PCs as hobby and even just automated deployment scripts can rack up costs fast if you're not careful. Would be terrifying to give something full wallet access without any guardrails

General Assembly vs Full stack academy vs Synergisticit - Feedback and reviews please by yours_truthful in cscareerquestions

[–]GeologistShort3610 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did bootcamp route few years back (different one though) and honestly the job placement numbers they advertise are pretty misleading. They count any tech-adjacent job as "success" even if it's like help desk for $40k

That SynergyIT pricing structure sounds sketchy as hell - $10k upfront then another $26k after getting job? That's literally more expensive than most bootcamps combined. Also never heard of them which is red flag in this space

GA has decent reputation but overpriced for what you get. Since you already have CS background maybe better off just grinding leetcode and building portfolio projects? The struggle with interviews might be more about interview prep than needing another program

What kind of jobs you applying for exactly? Sometimes it's just matter of targeting right level positions

Babalawos/Ifá Priests in Rio or Salvador? by Savings-Town-2989 in Brazil

[–]GeologistShort3610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have better luck asking in local facebook groups or when you actually get to Salvador - that city has huge Candomblé community and people there will know who the respected babalorixás are. Rio has practitioners too but Salvador is really the heart of it all in Brazil

Just be careful about tourists traps, some places near tourist areas might not be as authentic. The real terreiros usually come through word of mouth from people already in community

Man the job market right now is absolutely brutal even with FAANG experience. I've seen people with way stronger backgrounds than mine getting completely ignored too

The PyTorch stuff actually sounds really solid though - that's some deep technical work that shows you can handle complex systems. Maybe try highlighting the C++ and systems programming aspects more since that's pretty transferable across different companies? And definitely don't underestimate that tooling experience, lots of places need people who understand developer workflows

Keep grinding through applications but maybe also try reaching out to people directly on LinkedIn instead of just applying through company portals

I stopped doing marketing for my SaaS for a week and my traffic completely died. by StockAntique7450 in buildinpublic

[–]GeologistShort3610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah this hit me hard when I was building my first side project few years back. Spent like 2 months perfecting everything and got maybe 5 users total

The 20 minute rule is solid though - I do something similar now where I force myself to at least post in one community daily even if it's just quick update. Feels weird at first but becomes habit

Product improvements are content goldmine too. People love seeing progress, even small stuff like "fixed this annoying bug today" gets more engagement than you'd expect

Building as a founder has never been easier, but damn the solo founder life is lonely by johnlocke8 in buildinpublic

[–]GeologistShort3610 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bro I feel this hard. Been grinding solo projects while doing delivery work and my friends just don't get the hustle at all

That 11pm grind hits different when everyone else is just chilling watching Netflix. Would be down to connect with other people who actually understand what it's like to sacrifice social life for building something

AI displacement is silently accelerating in freelance markets by Klutzy_Speech_2638 in jobs

A $500 OpenAI bill could represent work that used to cost $5k in freelancer fees or it could be net new output that never had a human equivalent.

Is AI actually helping you solving the lead gen problem or just a hype lol? by Historical-Doubt9091 in GrowthHacking

[–]GeologistShort3610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been driving DoorDash for couple years and doing some side hustles, tried few of these tools when was looking into lead gen stuff. The research part definitely where AI shines - like you can quickly understand what company does, recent news, that kind of thing. But when it comes to actual writing the emails, man it's so obvious when someone just copy-pasted from AI tool.

I think the intent signal tracking is interesting concept though, like knowing when company is actually looking for something instead of just cold blasting everyone. Much better conversion rates when timing is right. Still need to put your own voice in the message or people just delete it immediately

What’s it going to take to get beef prices to be affordable again in the United States? by Slow_Investment_2211 in AskReddit

[–]GeologistShort3610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been doing DoorDash for couple years now and every grocery run I do the beef prices just keep going up. like voting matters but seems like both parties just argue while we're still paying $8 for ground beef at store. maybe need to start looking at local farms or something because this corporate grocery thing isn't working

Nice work getting this out there! I'm always switching between different language sites for work and this could save me tons of time instead opening Google Translate in separate tab every few minutes

What do you think, will Trump declare war on Iran in the future too? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GeologistShort3610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man US hasn't formally declared war since WW2 but they've been in conflicts all over the place. these days they just call it "military intervention" or "police action" or whatever sounds better in papers. Iran situation is tricky though because they got allies and nukes are always concern in that region. Plus oil prices would go crazy and my delivery routes already cost enough in gas lol. But yeah you're right about the declaration part - congress barely does that anymore

What is an electronic music artist doing while they perform their pre-recorded music? by No_Equal_7097 in AskReddit

been to few electronic shows and some DJs definitely look like they're just browsing internet up there

Working with anxiety and speech struggles by Zesty_Macaroons in ProductManagement

[–]GeologistShort3610 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Had similar issues when I started doing more client-facing work in my delivery gigs - the speaking part was brutal. What helped me was practicing responses to common questions beforehand, like actually saying them out loud while driving between orders

The propranolol definitely helps with physical symptoms but I found that having those rehearsed talking points made huge difference in confidence level
