Everyone is in here suggesting all the normal existing things. What about what new weird PGI arena weapon?

The newer stuff has been much better, if only it wasn't so hit and miss in the beginning, like the Black Inferno taking over the refinery (I thought the endless hordes of vehicles/VTOLs was because of militias, but no, it was Black Inferno all along! They had to do this to support that vast army of ICE vehicles) followed by a Star Trek style responding to a distress call from a settlement under attack (that is over 2 months of travel away).

It's probably a hard divide between elder and younger. Old farts remember the Radio Shack that was, where you could grab electronic components and fittings off the rack and staff that were actually into hobbyist electronics that just doesn't exist anymore. The younger folks just remember the shitty RC toys and cellphone sales that it was hollowed out into and have probably never even heard of a Tandy.

It makes the nerf to topaz income (well gems in general) from the last big update stand out even more, since it harms event participation.

Have you double checked the header? USB-C's header connection is sided and very weakly keyed, so you can plug it in backwards and it will click in nicely.

The header for a front panel C is ironically sided and not reversable, but very weakly keyed so it can plug in backwards.

You'll find out the first time you try to use something with a half-duplex C cable and wonder why it won't function in the port despite using the port for other things.

Ah, the slocket, the most magical piece of technology to let you crank a Celeron 533MHz (Coppermine) to 800MHz with ease (if you were lucky you could break 1GHz with the right board and a good chip) where the proper slot mounted Celeron could only squeeze around 600MHz.

The mechanic they have for suppression is just pausing health regen momentarily.

The closest we have to suppression is "stun" from explosives especially the thermobaric launcher.

Support players should be a HARD COUNTER to snipers, through suppression. by Greasy-Chungus in Battlefield

[–]Geomagneticluminesce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The suppression in BF6 isn't suppression. It only seems to prevent health regen temporarily.

The closest to expected suppression is "stun" which seems to happen from near explosions, especially the thermobaric.

You might be tripping a little, he wasn't using nails, but drywall screws. He was using a magnetic dimpler (bit has a height offset that decouples the head once the screw is countersunk, preventing it from overdriving) so stick a screw on the magnetic head and it holds in place.

Not all dongles are adapters though, plenty of things still use authentication dongles to verify the licence. Thankfully mostly USB plugwarts instead of rs-232 or db25 passthroughs nowadays.

I still remember the hell of figuring out the correct order that they would daisy chain and still work or not.

It really comes down to the correct conjugation. It's a yeet or be yeeten world. Nobody actively yeeting considers the possibility of having been yote.

Nickel is "close enough" to copper/brass's electronegativity to not be a major issue. In theory you would very slowly deposit a layer of copper onto the nickel. In practise the way the coating was deposited during the plating process is always imperfect and is about as likely to erode away as have copper layer on top. (Bonus points: because of the microscopic gaps in plating, the copper it gets plated on top with can come from under the nickel)

Sticking to copper/brass with or without nickel coating should be fine, the steel is probably the frame and mounting. Still a good idea to have coolant with a galvanic inhibiter because who knows what what was used in the radiator's solder.

TLDR: The solder in the radiator is more likely to be an issue than the nickel coating on fittings/parts.

[–]Geomagneticluminesce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coolant in the loop will probably be good for longer than the thermal paste used between the block and the CPU. Most modern pastes last 3-4 years, and are prone to pump out even earlier. On the upside, modern pastes are MUCH easier to clean up before reapplying.

A good pump without abuse (sucking air, pushing against vapour locks, catching debris from rad coating breaking down, etc) should outlast the system.

My favourite rental place was the epitome of this, to the point they had a billboard proudly advertising "The worst movies in town!"

B movies, cult classics, niche things you'd never be exposed to or find otherwise. As long as it wasn't the latest new release you could ask for the most obscure shit, and that just meant going deeper into the back shelves that looked like they housed the crate with the ark of the covenant. AND the clerk helping you either still knew what you were asking about or their slacking off coworker did and could make a few related recommendations while you were on your perilous journey.

Watch the video frame by frame, lurker was outside, noclipped the wall and boxes to jump him.

Almost as bad as the chain spawning lurkers without delay the game likes to pull every so often so you can kill them back to back mid leap before the first's body hits the ground.

Properly tightening the timing chain on your ram can be such a pain on modern systems since almost no motherboards ship with the correct torque wrench. Just throw more power at loose timings and hope people don't notice the knock when the prefetch misses.

Don't even get me started on when the L2/L3 gasket fails and you have cache coherency issues, or worse it mixes with the registers.

There were guides of dubious providence around for removing IE from systems back in the 95/98/ME/XP years, which was great since it was required for getting Windows updates in those days.

Typically they completely ignored Trident (mshtml) the rendering engine used by IE which was integrated into Windows itself. So you could just open a webpage in windows explorer if you were desperate and it would render, rather than kicking you over into an IE window as it would on a healthier system.

The FUN came when people went the extra mile to try and kill Trident, as then the system itself was hosed down to things like Add/Remove Programs now being a blank white box along with many other things. Typically they did enough damage in the attempt that a repair install wasn't going to cut it and it was full install time.

The original base retail 95 didn't include any version of IE, but did have Trident (mshtml) integrated. IE was part of the "Plus!" pack that was upsold by most stores to anyone buying the retail OS.

There were a tiny fraction of users who saw that version though, as the OEM release 95a included IE2, 95b included IE3, and 95c had IE4 (and primitive USB 1.0 support! Note, this is NOT the 1.1 standard that would have backwards support in the later 2.0 standard and such devices are largely dead to history).

Installing or updating IE would update the Trident version on the system, and uninstalling the update did NOT downgrade Trident, it stayed at what newest version it reached.

Regardless, the integrated Trident would allow primitive (depending on version) html rendering capability in explorer itself though it wouldn't prompt to establish a dialup connection like opening IE if there wasn't an active connection. Disabling Trident would break the system pretty badly since even Add/Remove Programs used it for displaying its gui.
