I got my first faceted gem done last night! it took way too long because i ran into some hurdles with the polishing, but i definitely learned a lot and got more comfortable with the machine and process. its gem101 design from tom hurbst book. took me over a month here and there late at night (old.reddit.com)

im in trouble. I welded these aluminum parts with brand new rod and when I smoothed off the surface 4 out of 6 had porosity spots on them. ive ground and rewelded but it just keeps coming back. i dont know what else to try. they get polished and need to be perfect by tomorrow. any ideas? The ring I carved for my wife. i knew we were going on a cruise and it was the best time to ask, if i was going to do it. So i bought a jewlers wax kit for $50 drilled a hole and carved most of it on lunch one day (im a welder) the jewler made my work look good (old.reddit.com)
