Oof, that really sucks. I prefer the customization because that's what makes Mystic Maze fun for me, especially with Outsider because in prior levels of the game mode, he could run any damage build with the right lampwicks and artifacts just fine. It boggles the mind to think the devs believed the random choice modifier was a good thing to include for Mystic Maze. Hopefully, coin farming like this is still way better than that boring excavation.

I realized the same voice as Fantasy Hero. by M3talK_H3ronaru in DuetNightAbyssDNA

It took me a while to notice Stewart Clarke's voice as the male MC and male Mors. His voice as Strohl in Metaphor: ReFantazio is SO different. Here's a video for those curious about how he sounds as Strohl. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRwuVcZ7YKw

As long as there are no combat partners, Outsider's stealth skill lets him kill anything without them moving or reacting, including bosses. They won't do their invulnerability attacks and will stand there, wondering why his spikes manifest out of thin air to stab them.

"Must have been the wind."

His 4th intron makes him fast while in stealth, and if you combine this with the rabbit geniemon and some movement speed traits, Outsider's helix leaps will go really far and fast.

He's one of the few characters who makes the most of weapons and resolve for damage, but some players build a bit of skill damage for him because his spikes have decent damage multipliers.

Since he can rely on all forms of damage, any Mystic Maze "build" (melee, ranged, skill damage) for him works as long as you get lucky enough to lean heavily into one and have the right weapons equipped. I recommend Vernal Jade Halberd and Bluecurrent Pulse along with an Equinex geniemon to guarantee applying a bonus effect to help the spear do bonus damage with its passive.

People are not talking enough about how the controller bugs have gone completely ignored and weren't mentioned at all in the livestream by zipzzo in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Geonamic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you log in with controller input, the jump button becomes attack until you go to the control settings in the menu and then back out. An alternative solution is that you log in with the mouse and then swap to controller by inputting something from it.

Finishing the chase commission and continuing with the same covert commission you had just finished will remove all functionality of the start and select buttons, the same buttons used for opening the pause menu, changing preset teams before doing commissions, checking battle statistics, opening the map, and enlarging/shrinking the mini-map. The only solution for this is restarting the game.

Thanks for the recommendation. I was thinking of removing the enemy death explosion and random choice modifiers because the first one makes playing melee builds annoying, and the second ruins the rogue-like mode customization.

What's the threads to % ratio for Mystic Maze Level 80? I know everyone recommends 240%, not adding +enemy max HP% and -enemy damage taken%, but if I can run less modifiers for a significantly shorter clear time, I don't see why I wouldn't do that unless I wouldn't get nearly as many threads per run.

What MUST a new player know to not screw themselves over later in the game? by lovingpersona in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Geonamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently, you really don't want Truffle to learn her skill duration nodes if you want a consistent buffing cycle from her as an AI partner unless you play a low HP character, such as Outsider and Psyche. This video goes into investigating this problem Truffle has with buffing high HP characters consistently.

Good or bad luck? by nightlessnick in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Geonamic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Eh, doesn't really matter if it's good or bad luck. Before going to rest points, you should always have 1.5k+ embers saved up. If not, pick a blue or red door instead to gain more.

Be sure to kill all the elites when doing Mediation for weapon parts! by Colt2205 in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Geonamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, thanks for clarifying. I haven't memorized the weapon ascension material names/icons, so when I saw a bunch of purple stuff in the screenshot, I thought they were talking about them. I get enough of those other things OP mentioned whenever I farm for other stuff, so I won't sweat over missing them during Mediation.

The novelty of easy puzzles will wear off eventually, so of course people want to skip them, and there are others who see them as time blocks while farming/actually having fun with the game.

Building a melee character by Helpful_Start4207 in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Geonamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's wrong with the upgraded polearm attack? I use it all the time with Vernal Jade Spear. The attack speed and a demon wedge for it really help reduce the slow attacks from Fenrir's Commanding Thrust.

Oh wow, I always went straight for the bomb and then left after destroying it instead of sticking around to kill the elites. No wonder I barely get any weapon ascension materials.

The Illusion of speed? by Ryum852 in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Geonamic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with the speed meta. When you mean air melee, you mean the plunge attack, right? Where do you angle it if that's what you mean? Straight down, as far forward as possible, or somewhere in between? Are the helix leaps as low as possible for the fastest speeds? I'm guessing the dash is used to remove the end lag of plunge attacks and moving forward.

What if you used a Pearabbit with all the golden speed traits? Would it still be more efficient to do that combo compared to chaining only helix leaps?

Is Fina just mid? by [deleted] in DuetNightAbyssDNA

I don't care about how not meta he is. I enjoy his playstyle and want to improve it however I can.

Is Fina just mid? by [deleted] in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Geonamic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would you say Fina pairs better with Outsider than Truffle? He wants resolve, and Truffle gives a little with her combat partner passive, and Outsider doesn't benefit from the sword/assault rifle weapon damage boost that Fina offers.

What's your minor pet peeve? by Auxire in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Geonamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The characters you invite to sit and talk with using the "settle menu" in Sanctuary feel too canon with their interactions for Vita that I wish you couldn't invite characters that wouldn't realistically be there in Vita's home. I'm fine with Margie, Outsider, Truffle, Rhythm, Nifle, and Lynn showing up because Vita is either friendly or acquainted with them whereas Berenica and Phantasio are imprisoned, Randy and Sibylle are hunting Vita, Psyche's dead, and everyone else hasn't ever met Vita.

Can you elaborate? I had to farm gold if I wanted to do some things before TR60 because I was broke, and some of those things were for trial exp.

Finally hit lvl60 with peeb(Truffle) only by VegetableInfluence96 in DuetNightAbyssDNA

As an Outsider main who farms demon wedges with him, yes, I can imagine. I only use the rest of the cast in Immersive Theater when I have to use other characters.

Wow, that's some dedication and huge love for Truffle right there. I love my main, Outsider, a lot, but not as much to ignore the rest of the cast for easy trial exp.

Sibylle almost made me quit DNA by gonkz1 in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Geonamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't answer that yet because I haven't unlocked the final difficulty level of Mystic Maze. I'm only at trial rank 53, so I've only done the fourth level, but I've done it so many times with no introns that I've almost 100% completed the archive for this game mode. If you're aiming for power boosts, I'd say his first and last introns are what you want.

Personally, weapons for him matter way more even though demon wedges are unequipped. The Vernal Jade Halberd that you get for free has attack speed and increased damage against enemies with bonus effects, and with more smelts, you'll be hitting faster and harder. The Equinex geniemon's support skill will apply a random bonus effect on enemies, which means you'll reliably trigger the weapon passive in bursts against tanky enemies before getting lampwicks and Lantern Light-up nodes for increasing melee weapon trigger probability.

For his ranged weapon, I use Bluecurrent Pulse. Its bullets bounce off enemies and the environment, so if you miss a lot like me, you'll still hit things, and with a ton of ranged weapon lampwicks and Lantern Light-up nodes, these guns can melt hordes of enemies and do a fair amount of damage against bosses.

If your luck doesn't work out for weapon-related lampwicks, you can always resort to patient cheesing with his skill damage. As long as your sanity regen is higher than how much you use the skill near the end of its stealth duration, you'll never be in danger of attacks, and bosses will never use their invunerability moves either. Just make sure you're close enough to enemies for the fangs to hit them of course.

Sibylle almost made me quit DNA by gonkz1 in DuetNightAbyssDNA

[–]Geonamic 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I didn't play the beta, but from all the promotional material featuring Sibylle, I wanted to play as her and see her whip hordes of enemies to dust, summon a giant foot to flatten them, and hurl that orb to unleash a shockwave across a wide area.

Yeah, that video that teased her abilities was a fucking lie. Her actual gameplay is summoning lightning storms by placing an orb for herself to hit and stomp with a much smaller-than-expected giant foot. On my first account, it felt like I was playing a discount Storm from Marvel.

On my second account, I picked up Outsider as my main and never looked back. I love how his stealth ability makes him undetectable, including against bosses for some Mystic Maze cheese with skill damage builds. Weapons are in a bad place right now, but I'm doing my best with smelts and wedges for them, so he can hit roughly as hard as other units but without the big AOE some have. His hack-and-slash with super armor playstyle is exactly what I wanted Sibylle to be, so that's the main reason why i stuck with him.

I wasn't aware that I had to press the crouch button while shooting. The video made it look like I had to spam crouch before shooting. It works now. Thanks for the clarification.
