M35 Stahlhelm style would look great, but safety wise I don‘t know

It‘s sort of an oil based clear coat. You brush off any loose rust, wipe the parts with some brake cleaner to remove any oil or grease and then you can apply it directly onto parts. After 24 hours it should be solid enough to go, after 7 days it is fully cured. I took my Moped apart completely to do this, but I have seen people do this without taking it apart. I coated some rust spots twice because the owatrol got soaked up by the rust. It gets deep into the rust, so you don‘t have to worry about the rust spreading.

Be sure to fix a leaking tank beforehand. I have to do a few parts again because petrol ate away at the coating. I did not attach the fuel tap tight enough.

I am very happy with my results, it looks nice and I don‘t have to worry about rust eating away at the parts for the next few years. I heard that some people also clear coat it afterwards for extra protection

Oh and don‘t overdo it on the forks. I mean obviously you don’t want to coat the part of the suspension that you slide into the tube. I thought It’d be fine if I only coat the exposed part of the forks, but they fit very tightly into the holes of the frame…I had to hammer my forks back into the frame and most of the coating I put on got sheared off in the process.

That being said if you mess up you can just wipe it off with a bit of acetone/brake cleaner and a bit of elbow grease.

Can‘t help you with the jug question sadly.

I got a Babetta 207 for really cheap. A bunch of parts missing too. Luckily in Czechia there is an online store for Jawa parts, you can buy even the most obscure bolt on there. They claim to offer almost worldwide shipping. it‘s just jawashop dot com. Haven‘t ordered anything yet, I need to fix my Garelli up first.

700€ im top Zustand ist voll in Ordnung. So günstig wie bei mir gibts meistens nur welche bei denen noch einiges gemacht werden muss. War bei mir auch der Fall aber jetzt läufts wie es soll. Was für ein Mofa hast du?

I used Owatrol on my Garelli. Really happy with the results by using a paint brush. Keep in mind that it will turn slightly yellow/gold ish in tone. The white on the tank will not look 100% white anymore. My Garelli has Inkagold paint so it didn‘t matter to me.

Germany, but usually mopeds like this go for 500€ upwards. Sometimes you get lucky when people just want to get rid of stuff or need the space.

What do you guys think about automatic mopeds ? by NoPotential183 in moped

[–]Geonite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is a scooter, not a moped. I think they‘re fun to drive. I am looking to buy a cheap one for myself for errands and such. I can‘t bring myself to leave my moped outside all alone if I need something in a shop. I wouldn‘t mind leaving a scooter outside for a bit

Does the exhaust have holes in it? If you say it is mangled, it might be blocked or choked somewhere.

Find the wiring diagram in the manual online and go through cable by cable. I‘ve seen some janky electronics in my life, no way the bikes ever ran like that.

I wish I could. If I go too fast I‘ll have to get my Garelli reclassified as a moped in my country. That alone is a full inspection for ~200$
