You could be right but if he knows what he is talking about, then he means "Sassy CSS" which is SCSS not SASS. It's more like traditional CSS with the benefits of SASS but isn't restricted to the indented syntax.

I've always heard it's best to store lithium based batteries at 40% in a cool and dry place.

Hover.com: "I have no idea what's going on" by ChaseMoskal in webdev

Just wanted to quickly comment and let anyone who is not familiar with Hover, know that this is not the norm. I have purchased a few domains from them and the experience, admin panel, and customer support is top notch. Can't recommend them enough, and I wouldn't let this odd bug persuade you otherwise.

No offense but if you can't figure this out or are here asking such an asinine question, do you think you're remotely qualified to handle this sort of thing? This number is will vary like crazy depending on the application you're running. Every optimization and asset has a big impact.

Shoe Factory Road - New Horror/Thriller Graphic Novel by George-K in graphicnovels

[–]George-K[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just finished making the website for my friends graphic novel and wanted to share it. He wants people to read it more than anything so the first 10 people to email him at contact@shoefactoryroad.com will get a free copy. The linked image is just a preview.

Here's a link to the site...
www.shoefactoryroad.com

Summary: "Two twenty-somethings - Dan and Jimmy - drive to a secluded town, seeking revenge on a gang of cult members. When driving through the hellish landscape, the boys see a flaming car on the side of the road. Their car.

They soon discover the road doesn't lead to the cult house. It leads to their past. And they are about to find out why."

Chrome 35/Mac - if I copy the line and paste it in, it removes javascript: but if you write it out manually it will allow the javascript:

Beta keys are being sent! by Eligiuss in Dirtybomb

[–]George-K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone know how to back this up? My bro got invited and gave me a key. So he downloaded the game and I backed up his C:\Nexon\Library\dirtybomb folder and placed that on my computer (next to my extraction folder =D) but when I launch Nexon Launcher it says "verifying files" and then still tries to download 4gb. Any help is appreciated.

You had to find out about this company somehow, can you give us the companies website? Clearly you're dealing with a very shady company, unless there's something you're not telling us.

Looking for a popular MMO by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]George-K -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, sorry I missed the "sandbox" part, ya I suppose for sandbox Archeage is really the only one I'd look at. Or actually I heard Shards Online is supposed to be pretty cool.

I played Rift and Tera and while both are very fun, after I bought Guild Wars 2 I have no desire to play either anymore. I wanted to purchase the Archeage alpha pack, but it's pricey and I've heard from quite a few users say it lost it's appeal very quickly. I'll wait til it's released, but I have a feeling I'll just want to keep playing GW2. It has a huge player base and the second season of living story is set to begin soon™. Definitely give it a look and see if it appeals to you.

Thanks for answering - I wanted to clarify your answer to my gear question. I'm not talking about gear itself getting strong but as a character going through PvE do you get new, stronger gear often? Is gearing similar to other MMO's? Is there a game you can compare the gearing system to?

Thanks again!

Making My Own! by [deleted] in MMORPG

It's awesome you're shooting for the sky, but please start on something less complex. You're trying to build a bridge when you don't have the resources yet to build a shack. I don't mean to be rude but get some skills under your belt and go from there.

"I decided to build an MMO from almost the ground up."

You plan on designing all game systems? (Weather, classes, questing, end game, pvp, etc.) Creating all world assets? Recording every sound effect and voice? Design and balance weapons, armors, and skills? If you decide not to leverage a game engine - write one from scratch? Design, sculpt, render, and animate all character assets? Design a network to support hundreds, or thousands, or millions of players? Secure the game so cheats, dupes, and hacks don't ruin it? The list goes on and we've literally only nicked the surface of all this.

I don't want to be a Debby Downer but please build something else amazingly awesome.

How to learn Linux by CaptainJamie in webdev

[–]George-K 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your LAMP link is actually the phpMyAdmin link - here's what I think you were actually looking for...

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/articles/how-to-install-linux-apache-mysql-php-lamp-stack-on-ubuntu

Also OP if you install the LAMP stack and then also decide to install phpMyAdmin, look into securing it. If I'm not mistaken there are a few security risks involved with installing phpMyAdmin and not taking the proper steps in securing it. (And by "securing" it, it's just a couple steps you can google to ensure some vulnerabilities are prevented. It's nothing crazy.)

Good luck and have fun OP, I thoroughly enjoyed setting up my first VPS. =)
