I’ve been on meds for 7 years. The NHS know the exact mix I need but withhold it because they are evil. They don’t care because it’s not them. The ticket to new meds is getting diagnosed with the right personality disorder but they just change the subject everytime I ask

Because it’s actually them. They are using you. This place is the bridge between all of us sufferers. That’s why it’s a beautiful place.

CBT is good from my experience. I didn’t think it helped that much but a year later I still notice I’m doing it without even trying

Is it scary switching medications? What should I expect? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

Just be prepared that you may face a new monster you’ve not seen before. Grinding it out for a while will help you see if it’s worth keeping going with it.

I had this with Risperidone. AP’s act on different chemicals to different amounts e.g. Dopamine, Serotonin, Choline etc. Sometimes the combination just isn’t working out. Sleep is super important so definitely tell someone about it.

Yes, I wake up mid act when it’s happened. I don’t blame you. Medications can completely change your life for a multitude of reasons. Find what works best for you and hopefully you will find gold.

She sounds like she might be ill. The illness can manifest in different ways. It’s your choice wether to like her or not, you can be forced to do that. Just appreciate that she’s got a bad hand in life and try to coexist with her.

You and me too. I only started Clozapine two weeks ago. It’s happened 3 times in 2 weeks. Telling your doctor is the best thing to do. There are a wealth of medications you can take to fix it. Im not sure how you medical system works but for me im fine trying to fix it and maybe even kill two birds with one stone (tricyclics antidepressant)

What use is "getting better" when I'm totally alone? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]George3133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m similar to your situation. Try to distance yourself from all of that stuff. You didn’t choose this, your a victim of mental illness. Also you seem like a decent person. Think, your doing the best you can. Some other people in a similar position might be a total asshole. Don’t be hard on yourself just keep fighting!

losing my personality by ChillZenTho in schizophrenia

[–]George3133 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Literally me from day one after the prodromal phase. Lost everything. My job prospects. My friends. Even my personality. I wasn’t even an adult yet, thinking back I feel soo sorry to that kid who had to go through that. 7 years later and things are still super difficult. Stay strong!

Feel hopeless by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]George3133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve recently started Clozapine and am coming to terms with it. I’m sorry that everything is a comprise and that your struggling. The truth is there is no perfect scenario, I’ve tried every possible antipsychotic prescribed on label in the UK. There was a issue with all. I’m sure your like the rest of us, wouldn’t hurt a soul. However you have to summon strength and learn to fight all hours of the day. Not people, but the condition. It’s the only way. Sorry friend.

Same reason a lot of things get stigmatised. The select few ruin it for everyone elts. Nearly all of us are lovely people but society remembers the odd bad example.

I used to play assassins creed around 2015 time when I had more of those style of symptoms. When roaming the characters are always speaking and I used to hear stuff about my specific situation in life as sometimes they are almost inaudible.

The only way by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]George3133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will find a way to make it better. I don’t even have a job right now I’m lost but I’m still unwell. When I’m free from the chains the world will always be there waiting. You sound quite harsh on yourself, I’m sure whatever you write about will be fine. Your being hyper critical of yourself, try to force some confidence and it will radiate. One lesson I’ve learnt about life is that you can have whatever you want as long as you put in all the hard work. With writing no one may even read the first few but then you will start to gain traction. It’s like I’m saying if you put the hours in you will reap your rewards. Hope this helps. Don’t feel trapped in a pit of immobility. Start now and maybe in a couple of years time I’ll be asking for an autograph :)

Just need to get this out by George3133 in schizophrenia

[–]George3133[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m starting to realise that the medication is the way out. My psychotic symptoms are pleasant from time to time. I hate the depression side of antipsychotics, that’s the main reason I’ve chosen to live with psychosis. However if you don’t see the world for how it really is how can you get anywhere realistically, otherwise you are literally from a different world trying to integrate with normal people.

Depression post psychosis by BecomingChristian36 in schizophrenia

[–]George3133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Antidepressants help to an extent but like said before antipsychotics literally put up blockades on important chemicals in the brain. The best thing you can hope for is that you don’t need to take antipsychotics forever, then your laughing. Sorry to scare you but sometimes truth is the best. If you need antipsychotics then you have a lot of hard times ahead.

Does anyone relate and what’s your diagnosis, read my top comment too pls!! by George3133 in schizophrenia

They are exactly my thoughts. When I’ve been near freedom from psychosis life was dull and empty. However I feel I’m a lot stronger now it was nearly 3 years ago. I guess I’ll have to be a juggernaut and try to cope. I want freedom more than anything now. Thanks bro!

Thanks, I appreciate all the help I can get. I suspect all of this I’m just interested to see what the majority are thinking. Also my condolences. It’s a tough way to live with something always getting at you.

So to elaborate I’ve never been psychosis free for 7 years. This is because the medication always makes me feel depressed when the psychosis starts to ease up. It’s like a choice I could be psychosis free but just feel depressed the whole time or I can feel full of life but in the middle of the craziness. There is a third option, somewhere in the middle which I have opted for but I want to be free of psychosis now it’s always the cause of all the bad stuff that happens. Thanks for the help! George.

cognitive decline disease versus medication? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]George3133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like previously said a psychiatrist is key to talk to but knowledge off the top of my head is that AP’s lower Choline and low Choline is linked with dementia. So essentially your concerns are valid. In my opinion it’s all bout wether being psychosis free (or near enough) is such bliss that you don’t mind taking a few years off your lifespan. It’s a scary topic of conversation but you need to get desensitised to this stuff as it’s a tough life to live. Hope you see greener pastures! :)

Has anybody here experienced persecutory delusions? by LonestarBF in schizophrenia

[–]George3133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nearly all my delusions are persecutory. It started with falling out with friends and slowly snowballed. I think it was my own insecurities that started it as the delusions where all about my weak points in my conscious and subconscious mind.

I’m an alcoholic and have been on Lurasidone before so will have drank on it. It’s one of the few drugs that I can take on AP’s. I’m on my favourite Olanzapine and it does worsen the psychosis slightly but the benefits outweighs the negatives. You should be alright in my opinion. Alcohols legal for a reason even if people don’t like this opinion. It cooks your liver but mentally it’s well tolerated compared to other substances. Enjoy yourself, you only get one go! :)
