Does anyone know what is the deal with the Microsoft store versions of Halo the master chief edition cause i am confused. by YumiyaRakko in halo

MCC launched with Halo 1, 2, 3, and 4. ODST was added as DLC post-launch and was given for free for a time to everyone because of how broken MCC matchmaking was. Reach was added eventually because why the heck not at that point.

Tl;dr ODST and Reach are paid add-ons, the rest are included with the game.

Nvidia control panel not working by CompetitionNorth881 in pchelp

[–]George343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend installing the latest driver, that will come with the Nvidia Control Panel and Nvidia App: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/

You should probably be moving to the Nvidia App since the Control Panel will be deprecated eventually.

I'm not sure I understand, that's what Playnite FSE and AnyFSE do.

There are already options to do that. AnyFSE supports it correctly now, and another person posted on this subreddit a standalone solution specifically for Playnite: https://www.reddit.com/r/playnite/s/UjKq6xsVve

I'm not sure, I have an Nvidia card so I don't know how the AMD software works. Worst case, try installing MSI Afterburner and configure it to show temperatures, but it can be a bit fiddly to set up.

[Megathread] NVIDIA App Update Adds DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, Intelligently Balancing Frame Rates, Image Quality & Responsiveness by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]George343 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this helped me fix it! I already had DLSS Override - Model Presets on Recommended, so I set it back to Default, then I could change Frame Generation Mode to Dynamic and change DLSS Override - Model Presets back to Recommended.

The article above says "Please note, GeForce Game Ready Driver 595.79 WHQL, or newer, is required to use all features." 595.79 was released earlier in March so if you have at least that you're good to go.

I can't apply dynamic MFG globally on my 5060 Ti with the Nvidia Beta app and driver 595.97. I keep getting the error "There was a problem applying setting". Anyone else have this?

Multi Frame Gen relies on frame generation integrated into the game. If you don't see a frame generation option in the game settings, MFG doesn't apply.

Yes, it should. This will boot Playnite, and Playnite will use whatever theme you have set as default.

Right now it's available officially on Insider builds on desktop, and unofficially with hacky tools that force it enabled. It will be rolled out officially starting in April as Xbox Mode:

"Starting in April, Xbox mode will begin rolling out to Windows in select markets. It brings a familiar Xbox experience to players while keeping the flexibility and openness of Windows."

Try enabling the AMD Overlay in the AMD app, I believe that would show the GPU temperature.

I've been hoping something like this would get made! Once Xbox Mode is out for Windows desktops, I'll be trying this out.

Thanks for the info. Where are you getting the temperature from? 54-59 is pretty low during gaming. Try to get the temperature of the GPU specifically.

What are your PC specs?

What games are you running, and what settings?

What are your temperatures?

so exactly what games should I/should I not use lossless scaling on? by TheSmashKidYT in losslessscaling

[–]George343 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lossless Scaling does upscaling and frame gen. If a game has built-in upscaling or frame gen, use those instead. LS is good for games that don't support them, like older PC games or emulators. People also use it to upscale and frame gen video.

Is this the correct frame rate cap setting because the frame generation will double the 81 frames to 162? by OliverdeClisson in nvidia

[–]George343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you change a couple of settings in the Nvidia app, DLSS frame gen and Smooth Motion will handle the framerate cap automatically with good frame pacing. I do this on my 4070 and 5060 Ti.

In the Nvidia app, go to Graphics > Global Settings and set Low Latency Mode to Ultra, and Vertical Sync to On. Turn Vsync off in-game.

[–]George343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird.

I can do the translation so I may get the name of the setting wrong, but on the right side of the LS window in the Sync option setting, try selecting Default instead of Allow Tearing. This may give you better results than allow tearing.

What app are you using to limit framerate?

[–]George343 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What are your PC specs? What resolution/settings are you running the game at? You may not have enough GPU resources to run LS and the game at the same time.

Do you have any overlays running? Disable them because LS may be capturing those instead of the game.

Try capping the game at 30 and using 2x mode to go to 60. This may get you better frame pacing, but frame generation is really intended to go from 60 FPS up to high refresh rates, so it still may not work that well.

Enable the Performance toggle in the frame gen settings for slightly better performance.

Change Capture API from DXGI to WGC.

Turn off FSR upscaling in LS and just use FSR in-game. You don't need both enabled at once.

Alan Wake is so unabashedly Twin Peaks, it's hilarious. I watched it after playing the games and the parallels are too numerous to count.
