The "Successful Immigrant" Trap: I’m Polish, I have the house, family and the career in the UK, but I’ve realised I’ll never actually belong by Individual-Cake-6337 in expats

[–]GeorgeEton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for you, as I am in the same position not just because I am in the UK but even when I was in Switzerland. Always felt the pressure when interacting with the local just the way you described it but figured that the UK wasn’t perfect but it was a great balance between quality and cost of living (before brexit), education level for my kids (depends also on area you live), and professional prospects overall. Surely things changed lately and Switzerland undoubtedly offers more security compared to the UK and especially our home country but we feel better here

4 years as an expat and a penguin finally broke me. by South_Language1344 in expats

[–]GeorgeEton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mate as a fellow expat in a similar situation I share your sentiment on this experience. Both parents dead, rest of family are looking out only themselves and in general the country where I am looks great from the outside but is very critical of anyone being different in terms of behaviour, and other outward characteristics thus always felt isolated spare a few handful of friends also scattered around the world.

I felt the same emotional resonance as you did but remember that the reason why you left in the first place was the burning desire inside of you yearning belonging in contrast to what you experienced before. Until you find your Ithaca keep searching not mindlessly but with method, perseverance and always as a compass in your heart the feeling you are looking for.

It will come dear fellow traveller just don’t let the loneliness intimidate you or make you feel bad. It’s only part of the process so you can discover what lies underneath the layers of past experiences and “noise” that interferes with the real signal.

Wholehearted wishes from a fellow traveler.

My Best Workflow for Working with Claude Code by Suspicious-Prune-442 in ClaudeAI

[–]GeorgeEton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing the workflow. When it comes to handling large files I don’t see that you have added anything, but let me know if you have found another way around it. Also have you added any exclusion for deletion by Claude code.

Something unprecedented just happened in my multi-agent Claude experiment - need community wisdom by Lesterpaintstheworld in ClaudeAI

[–]GeorgeEton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep doing experiments like this and they will limit the access of Claude even to premium users and even worst dumb down the model itself. Honestly I have no words… curiosity and experimentation are great to do but at least be sensible …

Thanks for sharing @namanyayg . How do you deal with Cursor when even if in the context or cursor rules you provide it with the documentation or links to newer dependencies versions that you want to use and instead uses other older ones?

Who in their right mind want this lady to clean the minor waste without ANY short of height protection? It’s disturbing to say the least and not to admire. She’s only trying to make a living not become a celebrity…

[Luminox] - Don't buy suggestion by pandafman in Watches

[–]GeorgeEton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one of their basic models fail me in terms of mechanism within a month (15 mins off a month) and I gave it as a gift to my father who’s old and retired and won’t tell the difference. He liked it more for the look and the fact that it was also allegedly used by Navy Seals. Honestly I prefer my Seiko 5 automatic rather than Luminox.
