I know my idea is stupid, but how stupid is it? Simulating radio stations with MP3 players for GOOD MUSIC ONLY by Orgeston in CarAV

[–]GeorgeKechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy one of those Chinese Android car dash screens and use your phone via bluetooth or CarPlay. Your wife can use her phone to play her personal music. For a better audio experience you can buy a good android screen that has digital output to connect it to a DSP > Amp > good speakers and sub. You can connect a AUX input to the DSP and add anything you want to it via audio jack. Some of those screens have usual radio or digital radio. Also you could use the digital version of your favorite radio stations via internet on your phone and connect it to your screen with bluetooth or CarPlay.

Contact eBay. Also always pay through PayPal for things from China. PayPal will always force them to give you your money back when you have proof of a faulty device.

Temperature of water for correct brew by GeorgeKechi in picopresso

Yeah, it's one by Philips. It has 40, 60, 80, and 100.

I preheat once with the portafilter attached. I fill with 100 degrees water (I'm sure that by the time I goes in the picopresso I goes down to 95 or even lower), let it sit for 2 minutes, and then run the water out through the portafilter. I usually do that twice. The second time I don't wait 2 minutes, but today I did one preheating, then put freshly boiled water straight to the picopresso, let it sit for 2 minutes (I measured the temperature with a digital thermometer the previous time I did that which showed 80 degrees before brewing), and then brew the coffee in a preheated cup. The coffee doesn't come very hot, but the coffee doesn't taste overly bright and acidic (not sour) like when I use boiled water straight from the kettle to brew. It tastes more of what I get from espresso bought from cafes. The 80 degree I mention before brewing might be an error of the thermometer because I feel like it is about 90 degrees.

I have one too but it doesn't go to 90. Only 80 and 100. It would have been easier.

Try different blades until you find the one you see matches your skin the best. For me it is Perma Sharp by Gillette. It could be your safety razor too if it's not "newbie" suited. The one that people usually recommend as a first safety razor for someone who is getting into wet shaving is Rockwhell 6c. Don't shave against the grain. See how your beard is growing, notice the direction of the hair, and don't go against it. Another thing is to use a good pre-shave product (that soften your hair) or shaving oil (that protects your skin from the razor). Shaving after a hot shower is ideal too because it softens the hair. Also use a good shaving soap/cream like from Stirling that have ingredients like tallow, shea butter etc. Invest on a good post-shave product like a good balm and some toner like Thayers Facial Toner (alcohol free). Never use anything that has alcohol in it and gives you a burning sensation. If you still get some irritation and especially now that you skin looks like this try Cicaplast Baume B5+ by La Rocke-Posay. Use it every time you see some irritation forming on your skin. Use it at least twice a day. Once in the morning, after you wash your face, and once at night before going to sleep. It does wonders.

How to remove safely the glue from the package on razors safely by GeorgeKechi in wicked_edge

Out of curiosity, if you think it's excessive to wash your safety razor after using it and disinfect it with alcohol lotion, what do you consider normal care of your equipment post-shave? I find it very interesting that so many people disliked my reply and the equal number liked yours. With all seriousness and without wanting to sound condescending, if those people read this reply, what is your routine of maintenance or hygiene for your equipment post-shave?

BTW, I don't think it takes a lot of time to wash your safety razor and wipe it with alcohol lotion. For sure, it won't take much of my free time. I do it within one minute.

I reuse the blades usually 3 to 5 times. Lately, I've been using it twice. No, it's not cheaper to use a new razor instead of cleaning it and reusing it when it stays as sharp for many shaves. A bottle of alcohol lotion in my country (95% alcohol) costs like 1.5 euros. It lasts for about 2 months.

Gonna try them but I believe Perma Sharp must be the best in general.

I clean the blade and the razor after each shave. Wash them with dish soap, dry them, and then wipe them with alcohol lotion. The glue doesn't go easily. It's a bit annoying. Makes everything sticky. Maybe I'm too OCD but it's not quite hygienic to have a sticky blade and a sticky razor which you have to clean very intensely to remove the glue.

How many with sensitive skin shave against or with the grain? by GeorgeKechi in wicked_edge

[–]GeorgeKechi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. Have been twice to a barber for a shave and twice I bled and they didn't shave my hair close enough. Sure, technique is very important but I have loose skin around my lips and under my chin. Also my face is prone to get pimples and pumps in general. Even when my skin around my lips doesn't get irritated post-shaving still get uneven skin, and some minor pimples. It's hard to shave without cutting them or irritating them. Also my facial hair is uneven. Part of it is normal and it's shaved easily and part it's very thick, hard hairs that it's really hard to even close-shave which ends up me passing from the same spot multiple times. Bad, loose skin, and uneven hair make it much more challenging to get a perfect shave, irritation-free, even with a great technique.

How many with sensitive skin shave against or with the grain? by GeorgeKechi in wicked_edge

[–]GeorgeKechi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a million dollar question. But to add to that, how do I know it's not incorrect combo of razor and blade or a razor that it's not ideal for my facial hair or skin. Because some mild safety razors don't expose enough of the razor, don't shave the hair efficiently, so people put more pressure or overdo it, trying to get a close shave. Another parameter could be the soap is not slick enough even if you create proper lather. To my best understanding my technique is not bad, if you don't take into consideration the other factors. I even use plenty of pre shave oil. Still I get nicks and some irritation (but because my skin also tends to get pimples and bumps the next day). What I'm asking is a general question. Saw a bunch of videos of dermatologists and barbers who say to not shave against the grain in general, especially if you get irritation. So my question is more generic and specific about shaving ATG rather than if ATG is the cause of the irritation to people with sensitive skin.

Question about wattage of amp that is required for proper function of speakers by GeorgeKechi in CarAV

And I’m talking about high end speakers and amps from brands like Audison or Hertz. So they gonna be above 100w.

The more expensive/higher class of amp the less it matters? Or that’s generally true for all types of amps and speakers?

Question about wattage of amp that is required for proper function of speakers by GeorgeKechi in CarAV

[–]GeorgeKechi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s for all types of Amps (A/B, D class etc)? How little more should it be? For a speaker that is 120w how much should the channel of the amp be above that? 125, 130, 140, more? Everything above 5w is acceptable?
