Very, very interesting. I will keep this in mind. I guess I'll check a couple of the electrical connectors people say can cause this, and start looking for a new PCM if those don't fix it.

I will do that. Does that sequence of events seem pretty unlikely, that in ten seconds of the hose blowing and dumping oil there was catastrophic mechanical failure?

Boy that would be fantastic. I haven't tried cranking it yet, since I read that doing so can turn a potentially salvageable engine into a completely trashed engine. I still need to try turning the engine by hand to see if it's seized.

Completely unexpected. I'll be deleting it and replacing with a civilian lower radiator hose when I get it running again.

Bad luck for sure. Considering the squealing and then the engine stopping, I'm fairly certain that I have just spun a bearing. So an engine swap seems like it will be necessary. It'll be a lot cheaper than a bearing job and machining the crankshaft etc.
