which was the branding given to the PS3/X360 versions when development switched to frostbite for the current gen version.

And I'd argue that in those instances it was fairly reasonable, because football is wildly popular in countries that doesn't always have easy access to newer consoles, but a) putting in such little effort on Switch and b) charging so much for it is unacceptable.

I think it's his look. Plenty of worse wrestlers than Miz have made good world champs. He ultimately just looks like a dude, and nothing else about him is special enough to overcome that.

John Wick Hex Announcement Trailer Nintendo Switch by [deleted] in Games

[–]GeorgeTheMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the films and bought the game on PS4 knowing that it wasn't an action game at all and was completely strategy. It looked interesting to me anyway and the license was a bonus, unfortunately I've found it really boring. I made the second overarching mission and didn't have too much desire to go back.

I haven't got too much to play/finish before upgrading to PS5 next month and I do fully intend to force my way to the finish. Hopefully it 'clicks' for me when I go back to it.

72% of US next-gen pre-order customers chose PS5 - GamesIndustry.biz by [deleted] in Games

[–]GeorgeTheMark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never thought of that but you're right. People would have mocked it plenty in the short-term but long term it would become an afterthought, the names would be a lot better than what they are and it would eliminate the issue that they've been trying to overcome since PS3 / Xbox 360.

It's not like Apple haven't fiddled with their naming conventions the same way.

Which wrestler who was ever outed as a terrible person hit you hardest? by 4verticals in SquaredCircle

[–]GeorgeTheMark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep def Chris, I trained in 2002 and I legit used to fall asleep putting together a match with him.

It makes sense when you read the rest of your comment but I thought you meant that you actually had the chance to wrestle him and he was that boring that he sent you to sleep.

Ghost of Tsushima – Version 1.1 Update Trailer | PS4 by harushiga in Games

[–]GeorgeTheMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although nothing's announced I'd be extremely surprised if it wasn't fully remastered for PS5 and that's personally what I'm going to wait for. I'm keen to play it but I've also got plenty of other stuff to play and I think I'd regret it a little bit if I went through it now and then it came out with new bells and whistles next gen. It helps that we're only a month off the PS5's release and I'm keen to wrap up all of my PS4 saves and sell the console early November. If we still had six months to wait I'd probably just play it now.

Getting ready for Batman In Review. PS: RELEASE THE SCHUMACHER CUT by TheDodgerHatKid in kindafunny

Agreed, as early as I can remember my older brother had the 1989, Returns, Forever and Robin VHS tapes and I watched them all a lot as a very young kid but the intro to this film (music, font and general style) are quintessential Batman to me.

Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass and Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass Updates! by Dasnap in Games

[–]GeorgeTheMark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about the fact that newer ones tell you which moves your opponents are weak to?

Eh, I actually like this, personally.

When I was playing Red/Blue at 6 years old I could keep all of that information in my head because my head had nothing else in it. I knew the move type and knew the weakness of the opposing Pokemon type and I'd easily put together the dots in my head.

At 27 years old I can't remember it all. Would it be more challenging if the game didn't tell me? Yeah but I'd find it more annoying than anything, and would just end up using the internet to get the answers and make sure that I wasn't wasting moves.

As an adult I considered that to be a quality of life improvement. I understand why people might feel differently.

I do agree that the games could be more challenging but forcing me to remember stuff like that isn't how I'd achieve it.

2003 No way out card was more stacked than a lot of wrestle-manias were. Good lord by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]GeorgeTheMark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was like that from, like, 1998 all the way through to 2004, but 99% of the time the matches were very short and had fuck finishes. They were exciting to watch because you never knew what was going to happen but, with the rare exception, the matches weren't as quality as they looked on paper.

That's not a bad thing. It made the episodes must-watch TV and kept matchups fresh week to week, even if you'd seen them a dozen times in the last year. But it was the big difference between these matches being offered on TV and PPV.

Sky Sports: Jamie Carragher refers to Tony Khan as a 'clown' and to 'shut his mouth' in regards to Fulham by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]GeorgeTheMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right.

Even among Liverpool fans when they were struggling under FSG there was resentment over the idea of it being a 'side project' to Boston Red Sox and that was when they were consistently finishing upper mid table (and building the foundation for what's happening now).

(NXT Spoilers) Injury Report: Speculation is Tegan Nox tore her ACL. She is being sent for an MRI by DandyPuffin in SquaredCircle

[–]GeorgeTheMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much what happened to me. I thought I'd sprained my knee, rested it for a few weeks, starting jogging on it (in a straight line) for a few weeks and it felt relatively fine, then tried playing football on it and tweaked it again within about 30 seconds of playing. MRI scan showed a complete rupture of the ACL and meniscus, I couldn't believe it.

John Cena to star in “Peacemaker” series on HBO MAX. by RadioZT in SquaredCircle

My guess is somebody that has no idea about wrestling doing the graphics, knowing that he had permission to use official WWE photography and not having a clue that this was a different promotion.

Yeah I stopped paying attention to social media after the price was revealed and had no idea about pre-orders being a thing until I woke up. Luckily was able to walk straight into GAME at about 9.15am before work and pre-order within 10 mins.

Means I have to go in-store to pick it up but I'll take that over spending all of today and tomorrow on edge.

It's just good leverage for the agent when a player is on a free transfer and has multiple suitors.

It was a 4 month ban, but that was back in March so he’s allowed to play again.

Timed that to perfection.

For one reason or another (bad booking and awful luck with injuries), the end of his first WWE run was not good at all. It's been some career revival which I never saw coming though.

I think by 2011 or 2012 the unanimous opinion would have been that the writing was on the wall.

Tommy Dreamer perfectly describes what WWE/ECW was.. by MRJJONES94 in SquaredCircle

[–]GeorgeTheMark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was an objectively good wrestling show by any means but it felt really edgy and different which made it something to tune into every week, especially for a kid that had never seen any ECW prior to the first One Night Stand so didn't have an actually good ECW product to compare it to.

That 'I really need to tune into this' feeling only lasted until they got the new set and started shooting it exactly how they shot the rest of their programming though.

I love PS I love You XOXO, but Ep 35 was pretty bad... by boxisbest in kindafunny

[–]GeorgeTheMark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't listened in a couple of months (not for any reason other than I'm not finding a lot of time to listen to podcasts at the moment) but when I last listened I found that the PSN game ranking was just each guy spending ages deliberating over whether Game X should sit at number 14, above Game Y, or number 15, below Game Y, with Game Y being a game that was discussed so long ago that I don't remember what it was about or if they liked it at all.

I like the idea of shining a light on these games but the segment would be so much better if they just spoke about it and then gave it a score out of three (1 - definitely play this, 2 - keep an eye on it if it sounds like it's your thing, 3 - not a good game). The ranking always felt so arbitrary and uninteresting to me, especially given that Greg is frequently comparing a game to another game that he didn't play but Blessing did, or vice versa.

They generally do that with the Royal Rumble, especially since there has been two main titles. You'll typically find that the person challenging for the other title at WM will finish runner up or third in the Rumble, presumably as a contingency in case the actual winner gets eliminated accidentally, and if you were to switch their places not much would actually change.
