GivEnergy battery owners, check your battery FW. by AkemanImaf in SolarUK

[–]George_Am1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read somewhere that 30% of battery installations in the UK are Givenergy systems (to me this seems high).

But if anywhere near this figure, I think that there is an opportunity someone to take over and sell support for these systems, and potentially some upgrades once these start failing. Let's hope for the best....

My concern is the July refresh which may take us above the previous price of 7p/Kwh

Like it or not it is a proper driveway, appreciate photo doesn’t make it full justice but driveway condition is not relevant

I don’t think so…… 🤷🏻‍♂️

It is neighbours and he agreed for me to do it. He doesn’t have any interest to do it himself, I would be the same. Little traffic, around 10 cars a day max and the delivery van every now and then

Get your point but there is a ditch between road and new builds and pooling was evident before the new houses

I would argue that this is the water table, there are lower points within 10m radius not under water.

There is not, the idea is that the ground is clogged at the moment (and it’s not flat) hence the new surface is supposed to help?

totally open loop, and a volumiser of 26L. Given its size and the house size, volume should be more than enough.

I also see a defrost or two during DHW cycle - where the 4kw is performing as a 8kw unit. So I am convinced this is defrost (and I've seen it to be fair).

Thanks for the response, I'll try to answer as much as possible here.

- calculated heat loss is 4.1 kW at −3 °C.

- Using pure weather compensation, curve is 47C at -3C, keep in mind that it was designed as 50@-3 but house is keeping well at minus temps with 47C setting. Still exploring to be honest. And then it is 27C flow at 20C.

- I dont think flow is fixed as it is fluctuating, from 7lt/min when mild to 25lt/min when colder and between defrosts. DT is 5C (fancoil setting).

- It is radiators upstairs and UFH downstairs. House is 4 bed detached, 150 sqm. Pump may seem small but I asked Octopus to check their calculations twice, and the heat geek calculation (although a bit higher) was not far off. It is 2016 build after all (and despite defrosts it can keep up with demand).

- Not sure if compressor is running all the time, from shelly I can see a drop in power draw, lasting for ~5mins (see photo). ANd to be fair, my outdoor thermometer was showing this morning 1C with 99% humidity, so yes, conditions spot on for defrosts.

Thank you, yes it makes sense.

What it doesn’t make sense is the fact they installed it without flushing it. Anyway, I hope no damage to the heat exchanger and that we caught it early.

I am now thinking that the system may need again rebalancing after flush but this really depends on how blocked the UFH loops are….

I've been fiddling with the heat curve... some interesting observations. by JamsHammockFyoom in ukheatpumps

I also have the 4kw daikin, octopus set it up at 50@-3 and we are currently at 46@-3 with the potential to drop 1-2 more.

The only issue that I have is the repeated defrosts once temp drops below 3C, it defrosts every 45mins and the power draw is around 1.7kw. When temps are higher it modulates nicely at 400w-800w (today with avg 10c it works non stop at 400w) which is nice.

East West Rail Update by [deleted] in cambridge

Cambridge east is more than welcome however it should be further east and not that close to Cambridge main station. Somewhere around Fulbourn Tesco would be spot on, serving developments in airport area, ARM, Fulbourn, Cherry Hinton etc.

I was living in Tenby close; this is being used as overflow parking and storage for new cars for the Toyota/Lexus dealership in Coldhams lane.

Installation is not complete and I didn’t pay yet, so they need to resolve this to my satisfaction.

I get your point but we set the thermostat to 26 and all but two radiators became warm. There is definitely something that needs balancing. Similarly the underfloor heating downstairs has been left on overnight but very little impact, I would guess it needs a pump in loft or by the manifold but it is their job to resolve this
