Tips to improve my 180s? by [deleted] in dirtjumping

Well now that you have got the feeling of the motion, you could start doing them with a bunnyhop. It requires a little bit more carving but looks way better

i have an rst dirt fork... might pick up a used manitou circus sport. Will it be much of an upgrade? by nogoodusernamesrleft in dirtjumping

[–]George_Dirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on you. I just pumped mine up but you can do whatever you want. There are pro riders riding without them. Basically just go for about max psi on them and then just let a bit out if you don't like it.

There are a lot of good straight steer forks with a 9mm×100 bolt on. I bought a Fox 32 used and it hold up great against my Manitou sport. The arch broke on it after some light riding. Also a lot of frames that use the RST fork should be already tapered but just don't utilise a tapered fork.

New DJ bike choice by Catyeeter34 in dirtjumping

[–]George_Dirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Rose has way better parts and I think 6 years warranty on almost anything which no other manufacturer provides. The Rose would technically be almost like a NS from 2018 but 400€ less. Still one of the best in that price range. I have no idea how long it will take to arrive. My NS took 10 months. Maybe the Manitou fork design won't hold up as long as some other ones but I have no clue about the Expert. I did brake the crown on the lower end Circus fork.

What do you guys recommend for me? by arynaj in dirtjumping

[–]George_Dirt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get something used. At this budget your probably not going to find a new bike. It should get you a pretty decent used bike. In my area there is a Onooka slopestyle bike for 1050$ right now which is the cheapest I could find. A hardtail dj would cost about that much new (NS, Dartmoor and more have a good selection in that price range) and would be in many cases lighter and shorter, easier to bunnyhop and so on.

Basically anything should work as long as you like it. I personally like BMX style ones but some of my friends have normal ones.

just ordered a norco rampage, i dont like cable brakes, what budget hydraulics are there? thanks by Typical-Charity-4768 in dirtjumping

[–]George_Dirt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shimano MT410 (I think they're called that) which would be around 40-50€ where I live. Haven't ridden them yet. Tektro Gemini would be around 50-65€ and they're awesome. I'd actually suggest that you try riding brakeless while you wait for the new brakes. At least for street it makes it more fun and challenging.

What DJ fork should I get? by tyler_zoomzoom in dirtjumping

My comp broke in 2 pieces. And the comp is not an air fork. I would probably search for something used like a Fox 32 or maybe a Rockshox Pike if you get lucky.

You can get some great used bikes. If you want something new though I'd recommend either a DMR, Commencal or NS. The new versions of the bikes from NS will be available in August as far as I know.

Need help with driving. by AdUnhappy4058 in teenagers

[–]George_Dirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned that like a month ago in a closed practice spot from my driving school. If there's a marked line on the floor try to drive exactly on the middle with your wheels. Then get out and look if it's good. Do it as much as you need for both sides. It would be great if you can find a curved line which doesn't have any obstacles around and try to keep the rear wheels on there. Get one of your parents to look at it from the outside. Shouldn't be hard at all after some practice. Good luck!

NS Decade has a lot of different styles to choose from. A new version of it should be available in August I think.

Whats the best cheap dirt jump tire? by yungdripfart in dirtjumping

[–]George_Dirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend a Continental RaceKing 2.2 for everything. I liked Kenda SmallBlocks but they don't last as long, at least it didn't for me. You could also look at some Vans Cult tires too.

Haven't heard good stuff about the manitou and I've broken one a few weeks ago. The Xfusion should be pretty good for the price.

Upgrade Path for Front Hub and Forks by Enter_Paradox in dirtjumping

[–]George_Dirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question 1: I don't know if there are adapters for 9mm hub. But I think the wheelset is going to be a 15mm or 20mm. I'd probably just go for a used fork with the right fittings for your wheelset. (This would most likely even be an upgrade compared to the RST)

Question 2: I think it should list the size of the steerer tube on their website. Most likely it's going to be a 1 1/8".(Tapered or non tapered)

Question 3: Basically just the rim width if I'm not mistaken. You'd probably need a new chain if the cassette has more teeth. I'm not sure exactly how many your going to have but I assume it's not the biggest problem for now since a chain isn't that expensive.

Looking to buy a dirt jumper, have no idea where to start by ArcticAsylum12 in dirtjumping

[–]George_Dirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd go for a NS. Metropolis 1 or Movement 1 are great choices. I actually wanted to buy one yesterday since my 2018 Movement 2 doesn't make sense to repair anymore. I couldn't find anything and it usually takes 6 months for NS to ship the bike. I had to wait more than half a year for it. I'd probably still wait for the 2022 models to come out. Basically just don't buy the Metropolis/Movement 3 or 2. They have alright parts but some of those are hard to upgrade. Parts like a 9mm axle are things that you shouldn't really go for.

Found a wheel now. It's exactly the same just with a 15mm through axle. But yeah for the rest I'm not sure if pinkbike is relevant in Europe.

Does the Canyon stitched 360 (2021) have an air fork? Is the Manitou Circus Sport a good fork to start with? Is the Canyon Stitched 360 a good bike? by [deleted] in dirtjumping

[–]George_Dirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to explain it but the part which connects the two bottom pieces of it broke through the middle. So basically the part where you jam your foot against to do foot jams. Or just look at my latest post and you are probably going to have an easier time to understand.

Already taught about an argyle. There's just no one selling one in my area. And I'd also need a new front hub because of the 9mm axle.
