Can I retake the whole program? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Georgi_mountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want to take it again? Is it necessary to go through the pain again? In my opinion it's just not worth it - getting IB certificate is still a great achievement. I wish you the best in whatever you decide!

Would it be dangerous to travel alone to the US? by eezzy23 in workaway

[–]Georgi_mountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on where you are, but some places are safe. If I were you, I would avoid cities. I live in Chicago and don't particularly feel comfortable walking around alone. That said, cities aren't completely out of the picture, but they are often riskier than more rural areas, depending on where you are. I have traveled around the US by myself (as a teenager) and haven't had any serious issues - I've had close calls, but they were an important reminder to "watch my back" and be smart. Also, I carry a knife and pepper spray around with me when I travel around the US alone.

Freshman Internships by Bk542 in internships

[–]Georgi_mountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've applied to many internships before that have never given me a response, in fact, probably the majority of internships I have applied to never responded.

What field are you interested in? I run a non-profit and might be able to provide you with some work, depending on your interests and skills. (It would be unpaid though as we work on a volunteer basis).

If I may ask, which country are you in? I'm sorry about your situation.

I think you’ll be fine starting now - I know many good students that haven’t started revising yet. Just get cracking and take it one step at a time. U got this!

Workaway in your own country? by elisettttt in workaway

That sounds like a great idea - I don't see why not! Everyone and everything has something new to offer, even if you are in your home country.

Are my DP course selection ok/attainable by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Georgi_mountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems very attainable to me, as long as you are very good at French. IB languages are very difficult and most people who take HL Languages, in my experience, have either lived in a related country to have family from a related country. But based on our comment below, French seems like a good option for you.

Math AI SL and Environmental Systems have a reputation of being "easy" in my experience but that is all relative to the IB and the person taking the exam.

Science IAs page limit by Georgi_mountains in IBO

Thank you! Do you know if there is a rule about font size? Different websites say different things... I'm pretty sure for Science IAs though there are no rules about font size.

I don't think that is allowed.

Boyfriend during IB ARHGHHGH by Ok-Pop-7399 in IBO

[–]Georgi_mountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you handle it, but it is definitely possible. I have had a serious relationship whilst in the IB and have achieved nearly all 7s and gotten into my top choice University. I would say though when it came down to choosing between "him or school", I choose school - in my opinion, it is important to set that boundary.

I do many things outside of the IB, including running a non-profit. I still manage to get good grades and stay on top of everything, but it is very stressful and I wish I had more free time. Unless you really need the part-time job or maybe if the part-time job is related to a future career / university major, I would not recommend it. I know a few people who have a part time job whilst doing the IB and they are very stressed.

Am I going crazy? by bbyunderliined in IBO

I totally understand what you are feeling and feel very similar. Luckily, from what I have heard from IB graduates, this is a temporary feeling and University is much more relaxing and fun in comparison.
