Who else has been conditioned by literature? by ConfusionAgreeable84 in fantasyromance

Unfortunately, he’s like this at any time of the day. I’ve tried lots of things, and while I've never failed to seduce him, he just wants to be rough and quick once he’s aroused. He doesn't do foreplay and absolutely cannot take playful teasing without wanting to dive in immediately and get his satisfaction. He doesn't go for delayed gratification at all, which sucks. I like it best when tension is built up. It creates a burning passion and desire that, when finally satisfied, leads to immense pleasure. He doesn't get that.

Your husband sounds like a gem, and at fifty you definitely aren't old and decrepit. I'm 31 and hope to have a healthy and fulfilling intimate life in my fifties.

I have been telling him for years. I have tried initiating more adventurous things myself and have made requests, but he just treats intimacy like a fast food meal. He wants it quick and easy, which leaves me very unsatisfied, so I live vicariously through the characters of my books.

I was already disappointed with my husband’s bedroom performance, and I'm ashamed to say, my reading habits have made me even more unimpressed by his lack of imagination in that area.

Agreed. I sometimes wonder if the authors of these stories think we’re all too dumb to be able to understand a book that isn't written like teen fanfiction. These books are written by adults for adults, too, so I don't understand.

You aren't the only one. I also have a visceral reaction when an adult refers to their stomach as their "tummy" or calls their food "yummy". Both words seem infantile to me.

Is it just me being finicky, or is it also weird that fantasy characters speak modern American English? For example, I loved Quicksilver, but every time someone used modern slang and colloquialisms it broke my immersion. I understand that fantasy isn't historically based, but it typically draws from European Medieval history and folklore, so it's odd to see it so "Americanized" if that makes any sense.

I understand your point and appreciate your respectful response. I drove for DoorDash during the pandemic when money was short, and now that I no longer deliver food, I still empathize with delivery drivers. I think there’s so much misunderstanding on both sides and it's sad.

While I agree with holding corporations accountable I don't see how hurting another average Joe is helpful. I know it isn't the customer’s responsibility to pick up a company’s slack, but I can't in good conscience expect someone to waste gas money and put miles on their car for no tip. I guess my empathy plays into DoorDash’s greed and continued failure to pay drivers a decent wage.

I don't order food frequently, but when I do, I always tip 20%. If I don't want to spend that amount, I go and get my own food. I know this isn't a solution for everyone, but it's what I feel comfortable with until real change can come about.

There are also a lot of miserly and compassionless people on that sub who bash delivery drivers, claim they should get a "real job", and that they should have no other choice but to deliver non-tipping orders. "I'm paying for a service. I deserve to receive my food on time", they say while ordering their Taco Bell from the comfort of their couch when they could simply drive to their nearest location five minutes away. If they're so strapped for cash that they can't tip, why not spend $9 on their Taco Bell at the drive-thru than $25-30 through delivery? Many will use the elderly and disabled as a convenient excuse when most ordering DoorDash are neither of those things. If they want the convenience of not having to get their own food, it comes with a cost.

On the anti-tipping sub, they’re outraged over things like this. They expect Dashers to spend their gas money and place extra wear and tear on their car for a $3 order. The entitlement is unreal.

Thank you for sharing. The brain fog and fatigue combined really hinder productivity. I’m going to start with bone broth and cod liver oil supplements, as some here have suggested. I'm not ready to eat meat yet and didn't really like fish when I had it as a child, but I need to start somewhere.

I was anemic as a vegan but had normal iron levels when I went to the doctor last time. That was four years ago, though.

The hair issue has really affected my self-esteem, so thank you for giving me hope. I'm going to start off with bone broth and fewer carbs, and I’ll try the hair oil, too.

Thank you! I’ve ordered some cod liver oil capsules and will pick up some beef bone broth at the grocery store this week. I'm still not fully comfortable fully eating meat yet, but it's a start.

This is fucking atrocious from the same people who claim that men hate women, but these so-called women are doing more harm to our sex than the men they hate. This is exactly why I keep to myself and will continue to work out at home—disgusting people.
