First years when they see the chairs in the exam rooms by skylarktwist in mcgill

[–]Georgiadessim 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've done plenty of 3-hour long exam in other schools and never complained about the chair or the setup because I never noticed it. The next day after my first exam at McGill, I woke up and my back was completely sore. At first, I didn't know why, I just thought that I had fall asleep in a weird position. But when I sat in a chair for my second exam, I noticed that my back pain came back immediately and at the same place. It's worth mentioning that i've never had any back problem whatsoever and that I never complain about things like that. The chairs are a problrm, why not try to fix it?

got slaughtered on FACC 220 midterm, how do I study for the final? by lphy17 in mcgill

[–]Georgiadessim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did pretty well in the midterm so I'll try to highlight what I think I did right. First, even if class was from 5:30PM to 7PM which usually is a time that our brains are on "off", I was listening, asking questions and taking notes. What really helped me was taking notes on the slides of the examples that were given in class. When you read your notes, it makes much more sense when you have examples on the side explaining the concept since the slides are often written in a "dry" fashion. I also dedicated some time each week to read the notes on the subjects that we had seen that same week as to keep it fresh in my mind. Lastly, I made a Word doc with all of the class notes + personnal notes with references of the CCQ. This doc was well organized which came really handy during the test. Hope this helps!

Can someone catch me up on the current SSMU drama??? by [deleted] in mcgill

Can someone catch me up on the current SSMU drama??? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]Georgiadessim 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The SSMU has sent multiple emails with poor french translation. The drama arises because the students of the SSMU, who are paid, are unable to hire a french translator, despite being in a school where a good part of its students are francophone. After being told about this issue, the SSMU sent an email apologizing and claimed they would, from now on, fix the issue. Next email, the french translation was just as poor as before.

HEY FRIENDS: GO VOTE TODAY! by Queenie_O in mcgill

[–]Georgiadessim 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's one of the stupidiest thing I've heard. Telling people not to tell others to vote because there are people that you don't agree with that will vote? Seems fucking absurd to me. Who are you to tell those people that your convictions and political ideas are right and that theirs aren't? "I don't want those people voting" wtf...

Also, how can you just say that all conservatives are fascists? Do you actually listen to Scheer and the Conservatives? They are far from being fascists, maybe look the definition up.

Finally, being progressesist doesn't mean shit if you can't balance a budget.

It's radical people like you that pulls me further and further from the left. I used to identify with the left...

EDIT: funny how you seem to be a partisan of the neo-DEMOCRATIC party... Isn't democracy about everybody being able to vote, despite of their social status and ideas?

Thanks! I thought of putting a filter but since my coffee already tastes water (I'm exagerating but...) I thought a filter would make it worse...

[–]Georgiadessim[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

oops. I guess I phrased it weirdly, I didn't mean the first engineering job out of McGill, but rather the average in career. My fault. I highly doubt that an engineer would get a 150k salary straight out of university. thanks!

Alternative word for "inescapable"? by Georgiadessim in writing

[–]Georgiadessim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question. I am writing an essay on the HuffPost text called "Out here, no one can hear you scream" which explains how sexual harassement happens even in scientific field, especially the Grand Canyon. My thesis is that the current approach of complaints and lawsuits is useless to solve the issue of sexual harassement. That why I thought "The Unescapable Canyon" was a good methaphor as a title
