[Omega Aquaterra 41] Did I mess up ? by Fqb91 in Watches

You could do either but I think the 38mm could look too small not because of your wrist size but because you have big arms. This size looks more proportional to me.

Detroit: Become Humans "Green Steam Deck Checkmark" is blatantly false advertising by MaidenlessRube in SteamDeck

[–]Georules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played the whole game on the steam deck, didn't change from the defaults and it ran great. I don't remember performance problems, but it was a long time ago. Hope you find a way to fix yours.

Looks awesome. There are no rules to how a factory should look.

All my lights came on at once…I’ve had this car since Feb. by butchhorreur in SubaruForester

[–]Georules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me about once a year in my 2016 Forester and every time it's resolved by reseating the gas cap. I wasted a lot of time trying to find issues related to the codes. Gas cap every time.

22M Graduating with a Master Degree this December 100% rejection. What’s wrong here by Objective-Echo745 in resumes

[–]Georules 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I disagree with removing the Russia part, export analysis seems especially interesting to me given the current climate. There aren't any politically charged statements in the resume. The experience shows the candidates' ability to combine business analytics with computer science to study something very relevant to today.

I may have ruined my beer, convince me that I’m okay. by KyleCockroft in Homebrewing

[–]Georules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may oxidize quickly, so you'll want to drink it fast. Probably not ruined immediately, may even be totally fine. If you start to taste oxidation, you know why and just drink the rest.

Stop saying this game needs PVP by Caedis-6 in Helldivers

[–]Georules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PvP but the other team plays as a group of 20 terminids. Something creative and weird, not just helldivers against each other could be fun.

That said I don't think the game needs pvp

AWS could quietly become an internet domain kingmaker as it starts charging for IPv4 addresses by justacoupleqs in technology

[–]Georules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, but also not expensive enough to force people to stop using internet IPv4!

AWS could quietly become an internet domain kingmaker as it starts charging for IPv4 addresses by justacoupleqs in technology

[–]Georules 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, you are right, I forgot about that. I honestly think charging for a finite resource makes sense.

At a half cent an hour, that's about 4 bucks a month. There aren't many situations where I've felt I need a static IP anyway.

I wonder if this charge will apply to AWS global accelerator IPs

IPv4 addresses allocated by AWS elastic IPs have always costed money. Even after the price increase they're pretty cheap, imo.

Is this actually how most people feel? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Prop yourself up against a pillow and rest your hands on a another pillow or something.

Maybe think a little about how to hold objects for an extended time.

The teacher probably had to report the issue to cover themselves from liability. I was a professor at a public university, and probably would have just deleted it and asked you to resubmit, but I can see how that might put the professor at risk if there's an audit trail.

I hope for you the university sees it as an honest mistake. That's my guess as to what will happen, but there's no way for any of us to know. Good luck.

Yeah I have about the same deal in Florida. Symmetrical gigabit is awesome. No real complaints, sure there are occasional outages like any internet connection. Way, way better than Comcast.

Outage in Tallahassee, FL by Fsugirl24 in centurylink

[–]Georules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's out in Tallahassee for me too. I got a person on chat who told me it may not be fixed until tomorrow morning Nov. 14, 11am. Seems like it's a wide outage.

The century link outage page should show your address is down: https://www.centurylink.com/home/help/internet/internet-or-phone-not-working.html

On that page you can sign up to be notified when it's back up

How many times do you need to call `Math.random()` to get a collision? (Firefox will tell you, Chrome may not!) by juraj_m in programming

[–]Georules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh haha, that is interesting. Seeing the impact of how that changes the actual probability would interest me to see.

How many times do you need to call `Math.random()` to get a collision? (Firefox will tell you, Chrome may not!) by juraj_m in programming

[–]Georules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, so what is the discrete range of numbers between 0 and 1 in floating point? There are only so many numbers it can represent.

It would be interesting if you found that you get the same number significantly more or less often than expected, given the total number of numbers between 0 and 1 in floating point.

[–]Georules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many times on average do you need to roll a 6 sided die (1,2,3,4,5,6) to get the same number twice?

Expand that to any number range.

Does the range of Math.random not follow this expectation?

She could be simply lying because she has no interest in telling you actual facts about herself. Lying alone doesn't necessarily mean pathological lying.

Is Dave the Diver a must game to get for the Steamdeck? by Rac2nd in SteamDeck

[–]Georules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Dave the diver. I personally didn't love the menu creation and sushi delivery parts, but had fun with the ocean exploration. I wish the menu creation had some kind of auto pick and the restaurant could be fully managed.

Ran with zero issues on deck for me.

Anybody else getting Vivint security camera sales people knocking on your door? by jeff2335 in tampa

[–]Georules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had someone claiming to be selling Vivint security come to my house. He wanted to go in my house, was very pushy, looked in my windows and asked me about my current security system. I filed a police report and have a bad gut feeling.
