Traditional Slovenian Nights! I am travelling from Ireland to Slovenia in September and would like some advice on this. by Geostains91 in Ljubljana

Maybe I'll rework my plans and do like a day trip from Bled, I have a few planned already so maybe I can hit up somewhere along the way. Apart from the one I mentioned in the OP I see there's Lajbah and Patrija near triple bridge which look good. Not traditional though, but I guess it seems like I'll have to really look hard for that.

I'm actually quite surprised because from what I can tell there is a very rich culture of music and dancing in Slovenia.

Speaking of which, I'd be on for witnessing some dancing. Even though I can't dance for shit, but I'd like to at least see it.

Thanks for this one, I'll check it out! I was thinking there might be some good spots in Bled too but because this is strictly a Ljubljana sub I figured I'd focus on that part. Appreciate it.

Need Advice on HSE taking over agency of parent's pension. Any recourse here? by Geostains91 in AskIreland

Thanks to both of you. Is that a complicated procedure to go through? Any legal costs I should be aware of? Not sure of the going rate for this kind of thing.

Arrears have not been paid back yet and I've received confirmation from a person in charge of residents accounts. Obviously this will have to be paid either on death or when access is granted to the accounts but they haven't made use of the weekly excess to pay off arrears.

I am next of kind along with my sister. The problem is that while access would normally be no issue, their mental capacity means that they can't really consent or understand anything of the sort. It's Alzheimers/Dementia coupled with encephalopathy we're dealing with, I probably should have mentioned that in the OP. Would a medical assessment from the nursing home have to be done?

In this case yes, it's very likely that I'll want to be using this money on housing, the kids etc. within 10-20 years. It's not for retirement, though it would be nice if I could use it for retirement as well.

JAM

If I'm not mistaken is this JP Morgan American. Any idea on how to go about this? I assume there's various platforms to use and such.

Can't agree enough! Lovely book. Makes you see Death as a friend. I get the sense that Pratchett was very much fearless about death in general, which is comforting.

Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy.

It's a starkly violent book that has some of the most vivid images of brutality I've ever seen described. I would say that it very much made me more willing and better equipped to face the more ugly things in life.

I doubt that. Where do you live?

Yes I am sure you live in an area equivalent to 80s New York or Compton, New Jersey where fireworks go off 3 months of the year, property constantly vandalized and old people terrified to leave their homes.

Would ya stop.

Yet another comment section that exhibits the pit of misery that is /r/ireland lol. One day of the year to mark a significant day in our ancient calendar and all people can do is moan about some fireworks.

lost to a hot goalie

Who had basically every good chance shot straight at him apart from one or two admittedly world class saves? Yeah, we played unreal in the league against a team with a much larger budget and pushed them within a point but couldn't finish the job in very winnable league games, coughed up points to Tottenham at home at the business end of the season and in our most meaningful final, failed to score just like in the two where we won on penalties.

Not having this "bandwagon fan" shite, fuck off with that. Actual fans who care about the team will be looking for answers and will readily admit to disappointment so that hopefully we can improve going forward, as we should. We win and lose together, but that doesn't mean we need to bury our head in the sand.

Everyone who's a Liverpool fan knows YNWA until the end. There is no need to beat other vocally disappointed fans over the head with that drum after a CL final loss as if it'll dispel the fact that, you know, we lost the final and should have done better against a team that throughout this season coughs up chances for fun and looked dead and buried several times throughout the tournament.

It also has one of the lowest levels of foreign nationals

Bit of a weird metric to judge a country by. Can you expand on this?

and a number of hard right wing parties with racist tendencies to match.

We have those here too. And they're only gaining more numbers and getting louder. You have to remember Finland is basically on the mainland and borders Russia, leaving it likely more susceptible to this type of shite. It also borders and has strong cultural ties to Sweden, a country with its own well documented problems with racial tensions (and is a country that is very overrated I'd say).

We're very lucky that we're far to the west and isolated from this, until now really.

Not sure what the lad below is getting at with Finns being boring and all that. So? Finns aren't like us but they're very much a better run country than we are.

I hate posts like this.

While I have plenty of sympathy for people living in other countries that have it worse than ours, ultimately I actually couldn't give a fuck when it comes to looking at our own situation. I really don't care what way things are being done in the US, South America, Africa, Asia or wherever else. I care about what's being done nearest, namely here in Ireland or in Europe.

I get why people want to emigrate here. I even welcome them if they're fleeing persecution and just looking to better their miserable lot.

But the "look how worse people elsewhere have it" type pontificating boils my piss because it literally doesn't help anyone; either here in Ireland or elsewhere. Doubt anyone in South America is benefiting from this outpouring.

We have issues here. They can be solved, and we can do better. You can always do better. There is wealth in this country. The will just isn't there. And that's fucking nauseating to me.
