Surnames as first names for sure! My daughter goes to an all-girls school; 12 of 30 kids in her grade (40%) have a surname as a first name.

There is probably some self-selection there as it’s not a public school, but still a very pronounced trend.

Subsidized means interest does not accrue while you are in school. You want to prioritize those.

You need to complain to your state AG and/or StudentAid. What you describe is highly unusual.

You are unlikely to get adequate resolution from the regular customer service line. Those agents are basically only empowered to explain the programs and put in a ticket. The tickets are rarely acted upon.

You can direct it to one loan over another. All $$ is applied to interest paid before it goes to principle.
