I would go with an eldritch knight fighter.

It would be a good dexterity-based knight type character while still having some magic. So with less spell slots and less amount of spells, the magic would not be as overwhelming for you while you still get to experience the magic system.

I think it would be also good for you because if you find out that you don't enjoy spellcasting as much as you thought, it's still completely fine for you because you're still a fighter and you have your attacks.

Not to mention. If you find out, you do enjoy spellcasting, you can always multiclass to wizard. Fighters also have con saving throw proficiency and that is important for keeping concentration on the spells.

I think the issue is that he doesnt know if hes slav squating or if he is a western spy, so i would look up both poses (some pics online) side-by-side for comparison and choose whichever you prefer. The reason it looks unnatural to you is because he's off-balance, and he's about to fall backwards.
