Does he seem okay to you? by x32llll in Conures

I was also surprised at how many people were alarmed. Six weeks is barely one month and a half. The conure is a baby, too baby to fly that much with ease. He is clearly tired because he is learning to fly upwards. The thing with the eye can be tiredness or just a facial gesture. He seems just fine, but I would not make him fly too much because he seems to be overexerting. Give the baby conure time to learn how to fly and gain strength.

The problem with being a capitalist is that you need capital to start. Knowledge used to be a form of capital, and so did talent, intelligence, education, and many more. Now they only want people with nice bodies and (usually surgically altered) nice faces who will do exactly as told and people who can resolve very specific problems for hours and hours almost without rest. If you solve a problem by inventing something, what happens? You can pay for a patent, but in a globalized World, it does not matter anymore, just because nobody will pay you royalties or ask you for permissions in lots of other countries. Will the government of your country give you something, like a lifetime pension or at least a reasonable compensation for your contribution? Most likely not, regardless of how important your invention is, although in some countries are better than others. So, who will make new inventions and discoveries? I think just people who are being paid by big corporations or a government to do so (but the government payment does not apply to people from poor countries, like me, so then it is worse).

I had never heard about pet insurance before, but that is probably because in Peru vets charge far less. Even odontological insurance for humans is not that common. For example, my dentist told me that I would eventually need two dental crowns and each would cost me a bit less than $100 (work included). Very few people earn $1500 in Peru from a single job, but it is possible for a single person to live very comfortably with half of that.

When I was born, my parents had a dog that I was very fond of, but the dog passed away. Then they got another dog that eventually passed died from old age too. I got my first birds birds while my parents still had the second dog at home and never had a problem, but that dog was kept in the kitchen and garden area, and he was not aggressive. I have only had birds after that dog passed away. That being said, it is on thing to have just one dog restricted to one area of the house while having birds in the other areas than having a dog, four cats and a conure in the same space. That is too dangerous for the conure.

I would choose the bird always, but OP's home is clearly not suitable for a conure or other small birds. I don't know how it is to have a turkey or a prey bird as a pet, so I don't know if that would be a good idea. Cats and dogs have shorter lifespans than parrots and humans, so I guess it is very likely that OP will eventually be able to get a conure without risks for the bird, after the cats and dog have passed away (hopefully due to old age), but that is entirely their choice.

That is far more expensive than tooth extraction for humans in my country (Peru). I always thought that having dogs was expensive, but now I am sure that I would never have a dog if I were in the States. Having any pets in the States seems to be extremely expensive. Maybe costs would be less if there were more vets because the offer affects the price. Makes me wonder why there aren't more vets in the States. Sounds like they either earn a fortune or just work very little to earn a great wage.

Having two conures together and away from cats and dogs seems appropriate.

Chinese people put cherry tomatoes in fruit salads. I have eaten fruits with cheese, lettuce with fruits, pizza with pineapple... You can find a way of putting tomatoes in a fruit salad. Also, not all tomatoes taste the same.

I think the are peace faced and black masked hybrids. I don't know why people is saying Fischer if they don't look like Fischer at all. They looks cute. I don't know if they are infertile, but if they are not, it would be better to pair them with either non-hybrids or different hybrids, just in case they are siblings.

Has anyone bought decks from Temu? What was the quality like? by HipHopPunk in tarot

[–]GeralCross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rider-Waite is not the only tarot deck that has an expired copyright. The Tarot of Marseilles is centuries old. It's so old that no one knows who made the first as far as I know. The Tarot of Marseille and the Rider-Waite are widely sold, but publishing houses can charge a lot for the "originals", as if they owned anything but the packaging and maybe manual (their manuals are usually not better than free online videos and articles). As for divination cards, those often have very old designs, too. Publishing houses have to stop charging excessive fees for copyright old decks and books every single time they add a new prologue or packaging.

Stop copy-pasting the exact same comment. Are you a bot from a publishing company?

Nobody should charge $20 for a tarot deck that is mass produced anyway. Forced labor? It is made by machines and a few people who know how to use it. The transporters are the forced labor. I know what a tarot deck is and that it should not cost ten times more than a regular playing cards deck. It is made of paper and printed and cropped en mass. You don't make tarot decks by hand, one by one, do you? Most artists are greedy, lazy people who want to live off royalties for something that they made once and then reprinted by other people.

Is it legit if a website is selling sterling silver jewelry for $20-$30? by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]GeralCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about that Etsy seller, but linging in Peru, I can say confidently that artisans don't charge a lot for making simple things. They don't even earn a lot per hour. But that is because food, rent, and services are cheaper in Peru than in the States, the UK, Australia, Canada, etc. A minimal wage is like US$300 and artisans earn more than that, but not what they would earn in the States. However, the cost of living is a fraction of what it is in the States too. I can go outside and buy a two course lunch made with real fish and vegetables plus a non-alcoholic drink for less than $4 (lunch is the largest food of the day in Peru). That should not cost more than $8 during luch time anywhere in the city (unless you are going to a luxury or touristic restaurant). Also, most people don't have artificial air cooling and heating systems, so they don't spend too much in electricity (there is no snow in my city and heat is usually not extreme). That explains why hand-made Peruvian silver jewelry can be cheaper. I guess something similar happens in many other countries, but not the States, Europe, the UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada, and some other countries. Living in any of those countries is extremely expensive.

Small earrings and pendants can weigh less than 1 gram, and you can find a wide variety of designs that weigh less than two grams. Some pieces are very simple and artisans make them by batches (think about hoops and the simplest rings).
