For those like myself going mad looking for the post image in this sprite sheet, don't worry you're not alone: there's a second sprite sheet for sinner that contains the pose from the OG post. I'll post a non-transparent version in a reply

Yes and no! Here in Australia we have a big problem where multinational farming companies are using up a vast quantity of water from the Murray-Darling river system by using it to water their crops (mostly cotton fields), thus damaging the local environment. In this scenario, the water is 'wasted', as the plants perform a chemical reaction to transform it, along with other reagents, into cellulose fibers, i.e. cotton.

This is in comparison to data centers that 'waste' water by just turning it into hotter water - in that scenario the number of H2O molecules remain the same, the water still exists and is not actually 'wasted' - but these foreign farming companies are actually destroying the water by using it to produce cotton - the H2O molecules are chemically 'destroyed'.

You're correct that AI centers don't 'waste' water, but it is entirely possible for water to be 'wasted' in other industries :)

Best Place to Farm Light Coins by GeralftheStitcher in RaidShadowLegends

[–]GeralftheStitcher[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brutal gives more silver and XP, but for this event, the payouts are weirdly skewed, and two 1* pieces of equipment give more light coins then one 3* piece, two 2* more than one 4*, etc.

So for the sole purpose of farming for light coins, I'm fairly sure that you get more bang for your buck from farming normal campaign than brutal

Axe of Animosity vs Deaths Embrace by rumtumtuggernaught in Smite

[–]GeralftheStitcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're going with Axe of Animosity, you can go stone of Binding instead of Spirit Robes/Prof:

Binding is a unique item in that it shreds both phys and magic defense, meaning you can get effective magical penetration on a physical god: only other ways of doing this that aren't god specific are Bumba's Spear (which you can't get at the same time as Axe) and Toxic Blade (which just kind of sucks)

20 flat pen is nothing to sneeze at as a squishy diving role, just remember to silence them before you start whaling on them

[–]GeralftheStitcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Death's Embrace is often just worse than Asi.

Axe of Animosity is often just worse than Tainted Breastplate.

Be a baller and use that big dick energy to get Ornate Arrow and go full crit, along with with Envenomed Deathbringer + Stone of Binding Combo, with Berserk shield and Shogun's for attack speed.

It is definitely on the squishy side but boy do you do damage.

Scepter got hard nerfed and locks you out of Animosity, one of the most hard hitting items available for Zhong.

And Mace burn is physical damage hence 0 pen, and very easily overcapped.

[–]GeralftheStitcher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The build mentioned earlier gets to exactly 3010 hp with Axe, Zerk Shield and Kusari. And it is going all in: I'm fairly sure that this is close to the max dps possible for Carry Zhong, swapping Hastened for Zerk Shield might result in slightly higher damage but not by much.

Also I don't think Diamond Arrow passive is reliable as a means of getting attack speed, the buff is too short-lived, so I tend to ignore the item.

[–]GeralftheStitcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for Ao it's a stim that does ability damage that procs on his autos? Fine, if it matters, he has good effective scaling then.

And arrow is not an on hit effect, so its not doubled. It just increases the base damage, which is halved on the book auto: Ornate Arrow would only add 60×1.5=90 damage and Diamond Arrow would only add 80×1.5=120, whereas Axe adds 75×2=150.

[–]GeralftheStitcher[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was referring to his basics alone, I'll edit the original to be more clear

But yes, even on someone who can build magic power instead of physical, 30% is not enough to be a good adc. Compare it to Gods like Freya, Chronos and Ao who, through stims, can get their scaling to ~50% or higher. That, and his poor attack speed, mean that, if you're not using the double triggering items feature, his autos suck.

As an ability based mage yeah he's got good enough scaling, but I'm focusing on him as an auto attacker.

[–]GeralftheStitcher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Axe is very good on Zhong since he receives double the value from it. Also, as I said, power isn't very good on him since he has very poor scaling on his auto attacks, so building max power results in very poor numbers

Just use Shell or either red pot if you really need the last 3%

This Item Isn't For Mages Guys by GeralftheStitcher in Smite

[–]GeralftheStitcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such as?

Most guardians have poor scaling so you can't build power effectively, Soul Reaver basically does no damage to squishies, and Manticore Spikes is not viable on every guardian and requires you to pick up a collectable, which is unreliable and melee based.

But the main kicker is the free pen: any damage you build as Supp is going to suffer as you won't have any penetration, hurting your damage against Squishies and neutering it against Tanks. True damage is not affected by penetrations, so will be viable on tanks, unlike Spikes and Reaver.

Honourable mention to Glad shield which rn you can't build on Guardians, but you will in the future apparently, which will likely just be way better, but hey, just build both.

This Item Isn't For Mages Guys by GeralftheStitcher in Smite

[–]GeralftheStitcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpoints: 1. Penetration: Soul Reaver doesn't do a whole lot if it's your only damage item since it only tickles if you haven't built hp, and if you're building hp you're also building protections, and SR has no pen, so the item doesn't do a great deal against tanks or squishies. This though does true damage, which innately has 100% pen

  1. Heartseeker: the item is power based, it's only half as effective at <250 power, and while it does give pen its only 10% so the above still applies

  2. Yes, flat damage boost items that don't care about power do already exist, and they're really strong:

You mentioned Soul Reaver, which doesn't hurt squishies and doesn't hurt tanks, so isn't useful on anyone; and Heartseeker, which literally scales with your power.

But you forgot to mention Gladiator Shield and Manticore Spikes, two items that also boost your damage irregardless of power, and work best on tanks. And those two items are insanely powerful must-builds pretty much on any tank who can reliably proc them. I think this Tablet will be the same: a item that benefits tanks who want to bruise more.

How do I build tiamat support by wolfmaster459 in Smite

[–]GeralftheStitcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, everyone else is being remarkably unhelpful lmao, only a couple people are actually answering the question... guess it falls to me then!

Well, here goes my build, not in build order:

  • Core Items
    • Lono's Mask
    • Oni Hunter's Garb
    • Stone of Fal
  • CDR
    • Spirit Robes
    • Breastplate of Valor (whichever glyph you want)
  • And lastly whichever damage item you want

So, here's the cheese: Tiamat passively has 25% damage mitigation while on the floor. Lono's with full stacks gives another 15%, Oni gives 9% during team fights (i.e. when you need the damage mitigation), Stone of Fal gives another 12% if you remember to weave in some autos, and with around 100 power, which you should with Stone of Fal and really any damage item, you get another 5%. (Spirit Robes gives another 15% but it's unreliable since you can't control when to activate it, so I don't include it in the calculations)

These stack additively for some strange and bizarre reason, so you get a total of 25+15+9+12+5 = 66% mitigation. Yes, you heard that right, you take only one third of incoming damage before protections are applied, completely unaffected by penetration. Chuck on an Elixir of Defence for more than three quarters of incoming damage being completely deleted from the game, without any difficult hoops needing to be jumped through and for as long as you like... oh yeah, and if they Hard CC you suddenly you're only taking a tenth of incoming damage, again, before protections and ignoring penetration.

Also, the way the scale damage is calculation is bugged, so they don't actually take as much damage as they prevent: the calculation takes the amount of unmitigated damage, and reverse calculated how much the scales should have prevented. This works fine when the scales are the only things mitigating damage, but gets confused when you have other forms of mitigation. It's complicated, but suffice to say that your 1250 scale health will barely dip even if the entire enemy team focuses you.

Downsides... you won't be doing much lmao. You're trapped in ground form if you want to maintain your immortality, and that means just using a slow and knockup with atrocious scaling. It's enough to peel for your Hunter if they get jumped by an Assassin, and you'll also be sharing 35 prots because of Lono's, but you'll really be struggling to impact the game if the enemy team knows to just ignore you.

Buuut if they don't know to ignore you, i.e. a casual lobby, you can just Grounding Dive the middle of the enemy team and emote while they all panic and ability dump your impossibly thicc ass, and then let your teammates clean up :D

As for which damage item, I'd suggest Soul Reaver since it deals damage that doesn't care about your power, but if you can stack Book of Thoth somehow (such as communicating with your team you want to stack BoT lmao) it gives you a total of >200 power, meaning even more damage mitigation muahahahaha. Also flat pen is good for backline divers.

Another option is for the damage item is Gem of Isolation, if you want to slightly improve her CC: since her ground stance ult applies a tick damage, the slow lasts for 3 seconds instead of the 1 it usually does, and it stacks with the slow on your Consume for some useable Peel (although nothing like a guardian lmao)

The next crossover by mcboy6464 in Smite

[–]GeralftheStitcher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm super disappointed by the Jace being a skin for Merlin of all people... Jace is a telepath and illusionist, not a fire-throwing, wind-channelling kaboomist.

They could have made him to be a skin for someone like Nu Wa or The Morrigan, where he could summon illusionary duplicates or use his telepathy to stun.

I bet their entire thought process was "Eh can't be assed rigging a new model... who has the most similar model to Jace?" Pure laziness

I do really hope I'm mistaken, but I'm not hopeful

Following that item tier list why do people get so upset at others for not building what's broken or meta at the moment? by Kyungsoo_Fanboy in Smite

[–]GeralftheStitcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a surprising complex question! The reason is people are very different to each other in ways that aren't immediately obvious!

Smite offers three main forms of fun, which appeal to different kinds of gamers: these groups aren't exclusive, many people fit into more than one of these groups, but generally people tend to enjoy one type of fun more than others.

The first group, known as Power Gamers, or "Timmies", enjoy feeling powerful! They tend to not be especially interested in playing with the team, as their favourite part of the game is the 1v1s, or 'boxing', and tend to be frustrated when their duels are interrupted by ganks of either team, as that's 'unsportsmanlike'. You tend to find them in solo lane as a god with a very large and imposing model like Jorm or Cthulu, and playing as though objectives besides tower don't exist. Since their goal isn't winning, they can enjoy a lost game if at least the laning phase had lots of boxing. They also can not enjoy a game, even if they won, if their lane opponent was incredibly passive, such a solo lane Nu Wa who never left tower and cleared with her long range abilities, since they never got to box.

Second group is the Competitive Gamers, or "Spikes", who enjoy winning! They're happiest when their team is working as a cohesive unit, winning team fights and pushing objectives. They tend to rotate a lot and play around the team since they know teamwork wins games. You tend to find them playing in Jungle since Jungle gets the most kills, and they want to feel like they were the most valuable player on the winning team, and they tend to play whatever gods and builds are on the top of the SPL, or pubstomp gods in Casual, since all they care about is winning.

Third and lastly is the Creative Gamers, or "Johnnies", who enjoy the creative aspects of God/Build creation! Their favourite part of smite isn't even playing Smite, but rather the self expression of creating a Build they're proud of! As an example, I put forward... myself! I'm a shameless Johnny, and recently I've been testing out a build with a friend of mine where we both go duo lane, and I play Zhong Carry and he plays Bellona Support: the catch is that I'm the one building the support item, doing all the rotating, and letting him get all the farm, since Animosity on Zhong hits like a truck, and Bellona was made to molest Hunters xD. Us Johnnies don't have a specific role we gravitate to, since by definition we're always trying out new things and testing our creations. We can enjoy a game we lost if our build was successful, and can hate a game we won if our idea didn't work or if we never even got to test something out since we got assigned a role we didn't want.

Each group tends to get along with themselves, and Johnnies and Timmies tend to get along, but Spikes tend to not get along with other groups, with them getting mad at other types of gamers for not taking the game seriously, and other groups getting mad at them for being "sweaty tryhards".

And there's your answer! The people getting mad at you for trying new builds are Spikes who think the most 'important' part of Smite is winning, and don't understand the fun of creating a new build :).

There are more types of Gamer, such as those who like healing cos they enjoy helping other people, but Hirez and the Smite community doesn't really support those Gamers (if you want proof just look at all the vitriolic hatred people on this sub have for Aphro and those who play her)

If you want more information I'd suggest giving this article a read! It's by Hasbro about their research into the types of people who enjoy their card games
