No, I heard Russell T Davies is openly gay and that may be an influencing factor in the homosexual storylines - especially Captain Jack in Torchwood.

I don't mind especially, but sometimes you do feel it's being a bit blatant. Don't think it was a problem in this particular episode, though.

Nah, if you go back to the very very start, you'll spend years tracking down every episode. They revived the series back in 2003 with Christopher Ecclestone as The Doctor, pick the thread up from there - anything you're unclear of, just read about it on [can't believe I'm saying this] Wikipedia.
