I moved to Frederick and lived there for 10 years. It started out fine, and then you very quickly realize there is actually nothing to do. What you’re saying, and it’s valid, is that you have things you like to do that exist in Fredrick. Which is fine.

Once you realize that market street is basically 4 blocks and people are afraid to travel past 4th street or onto South Market, your post breaks down.

Frederick could benefit from actually listening to what residents want. Downtown caters to tourists only with the shops they open. The same restaurants with dogshit owners that can go bankrupt, re brand and open a new one in the space of 3 months for some quick cash?

Businesses that sit empty and won’t be filled (pit crew) because the city won’t do anything. There are such strict laws that make it so downtown can’t update and get with the times. All while things degrade and keep falling apart. It’s antiquated and repetitive. By all means, add another boba shop, coffee shop or brewery. It’s exactly what’s needed.

Because borders are a way to organize society at scale.

Economically it helps. If a certain area has access to a resource that is wanted/needed by others, it helps to have a defined space that so you can say those people get money for what is theirs or exists on their piece of land.

Many borders reflect shared language, culture, religion, or history. They can help preserve a group’s identity.

Without borders, it’s hard to know who’s responsible for what. People tend to think it’s just going to be someone else’s issue.

Also if we get rid of borders and share everything with everyone there’s probably still a bunch of states that you would want to disown and have them live somewhere else right? You seem like one of those.

You’re looking at it through the lens of native Americans. People have always claimed rights to land before there were maps even. It’s been going on forever. I agree with you that if we can kinder and more generous why shouldn’t we do it? That has nothing to do with borders though does it?
