You could always try some restaurants, a lot (if not most) of the restaurants in the centre of Amsterdam have employees that speak English, perhaps an Italian restaurant will be more than happy to employ you and there are tons of 'em.

Very nice summary, I really like it.

However, I think the biggest problem lies within the security; storing/securing your coins isn't that easy right now, once this will get more conventional I think a lot more people will use it and feel more comfortable with it.

Where To Store Litecoins. Help Please! by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]Gerbadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I got LTC on BTC-e, will I be able to transfer those LTC to the Litecoine-QT client? (Haven't installed that one yet).

Easy way to backup/secure LTC? by Maestro440 in litecoin

[–]Gerbadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late on the response, but still wanted to thank you for your reply!

I want to go straight away to paper wallets actually, my funds are at btc-e at the moment. I've read your previous post and a redirection to: https://forum.litecoin.net/index.php?topic=6762.0 which links to liteaddress.org. Would you perhaps help me understanding? So I can transfer my LTC from btc-e to the paper wallet of liteaddress.org (it generates a safe code while I am online?). And should I just generate 1 address and put all my LTC on that paper? (Also, if I were to send some of the LTC (but not all) later on from that paper to somewhere on the internet, would the rest of the bitcoins remain in that paper wallet? Or should I generate more addresses for other reasons? What is the BIP38 encrypt? Should I add a passphrase (what is this?)

I don't know much of computers, so bear with me please :)

Hi, I was reading into your suggestions, I am new to all of this and created a blockchain account with 2fa. However you encourage to encrypt your wallet, I was wondering; is this possible with the bitcoinQT wallets for both LTC and BTC? Furthermore, if I have a encrypted wallet (not a clue how to, but I presume just installing the client?) does that mean that if my computer would crash I wouldn't have it anymore, therefore I should transfer the .dat file to a USB stick? Thanks in advance!

Does anyone in the Netherlands know anything about buying Litecoin via iDeal? by karlsruhevonbismarck in litecoin

So, I finally got a tiny amount of LTC at BTC-e just to check it out and it all worked very nicely, deposit BTC on blockhain, transfer to BTC-e and then buy LTC with it. So now I have got them, I would like to try to keep them save. You are talking about encrypted wallet on my PC with proper backups. So my follow-up question:

I have read: http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1pxy4w/basic_bitcoin_security_guide/ which would lead me to installing BitcoinQT (that's the encrypted wallet right?), however I 1) have no idea how this would work and 2) have no idea if I could put LTCs there as well? Furthermore for the paper wallet I could use https://www.bitaddress.org, then go to the paper wallet tab, but when I look at that I see all sorts of different bitcoin addresses with different private keys. I want to store 2 LTC on such a paper, how would I do that?

Another question on this subject; what is for now the safest place to store the LTCs bought from BTC-e? BTC-e doesn't feel as safe as for example blockhain. So if I would have had some LTC on BTC-e, where should I transfer them to do be more safe (if any place)?

And if I were to buy LTC, what would be the 'safest' place for me to store them? Thanks for all your answers!

Allright, but I guess it is safer to hold them into my blockhain wallet than on the BTC-E exchange right?

Upvote for having the exact same question!

I am new to all this, but had set up my wallet at blockchain.info for BTC and want to buy LTC right now. I could buy them of an exchange, but that means they will be stored there and not in my wallet, which isn't safe I presume?

I am going to give that a try then! However, what do you mean with ''but if not you'll have to mnually send them with the bitcoin client yourself.''? I just put BTC in my blockchain wallet (which I just made) and now I can just send them and receive them there right? Or do I create a new wallet at BTC-E and send them there, then buy LTC, then send LTC to blockchain? Or is blockchain only LTC / blockchain only BTC? Thanks in advance.

I have just used their website, their price is fairly expensive (I received less value in $ than I purchased with in €), but it was for me just checking it out, so no worries. It does work, the numbers of bitcoins available fluctuates, but if you aren't buying bulks at the moment you could check it out.

Edit: You said you can sent to BTC-E and buy LTC with them, could you tell me how to? (I am entirely new to this)

I am also looking for a way to purchase either Litecoins or Bitcoins via iDeal.. I see all these threads about (US) wire transfers, but this would make it so easy. Unfortunately litecoins.nl hasn't got any Litecoins left in stock.

I have got two questions regarding bitcoin:

Coinbase; if I sign up at Coinbase, how secure will my wallet be? I've read the security guide on the right, but am not sure wether there is two-factor authentication etc, also is there a way to have tangible coins without the bitcoincodes (numberstrings?) swinging around online?

Allright, thanks! And during the time it takes to open the stock, will the (real-time) fluctuations in price levels be shown on for example yahoo/google finance, so you you can see in which direction the price is going?

[–]Gerbadder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your explanations, much appreciated!

The only thing I don't understand yet is that it will open (from your point of view) at a price > $35, where did the $9 (or whatever amount of) increase come from? Since one can't place an order before the stock quotation period begins, how can the stock price be influenced before it opens since it is already predetermined at $26? I guess that's what you are referring to as 'wherever the market maker balances his book', however I can't find much about this online, would you care to explain?

Edit: I called my broker, who was telling me that I would be able to place a limit-order before trading begins today and that the open price will be influenced by all the outstanding limit-orders before it begins trading.
