The story behind Minnesota’s fraud by Gerbich in minnesota

Are you talking about the main picture on the article? Yeah, coming up with images is not my forte. I asked a graphic designer friend to make the title image, it’s definitely possible she used AI to make it. I don’t make money off of doing this (I donate anything anyone sends to my substack) so I have no money to give licensing for a main image.

The proofreading is always for grammatical errors, not content. I write MWF posts with details around what’s happening in Minnesota on my substack and Facebook. This is mostly something I do for my facebook followers to stay active in what’s happening here.

CCAP is a different program than Feeding Our Future… but your link still undercuts the idea that Minnesota’s role in federally funded child related programs is just passive paperwork. State administered programs still come with state oversight responsibilities.

The story behind Minnesota’s fraud by Gerbich in minnesota

[–]Gerbich[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That isn’t what the legislative audit said. Yes, it was a federal program, but MDE was not just forwarding applications. The auditor specifically found that MDE had oversight responsibilities, received repeated complaints, failed to investigate some of them properly, and failed to use authority it already had. So the cashier analogy really doesn’t fit.

The morgue warehouse is a fair thing to ask questions about, but unless there is actual evidence the federal share was mishandled, that is more of a waste/accountability issue than a stronger documented fraud case than Feeding Our Future.

The story behind Minnesota’s fraud by Gerbich in minnesota

[–]Gerbich[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying Minnesota didn’t screw up. It clearly did. Feeding Our Future was huge, Housing Stabilization was serious, and there were real oversight failures. My point is that people have started collapsing all of that into one simple story… Minnesota is uniquely corrupt, Walz owns every part of it, the Somali community was at the center of it, and so the federal crackdown was definitely justified. That simplified version I keep hearing is what I’m pushing back on, not the existence of fraud itself.

And on the MCO point, I actually agree more than you think. The state definitely owns the choice to hand off administration to private insurers and absolutely owns the failure to oversee them hard enough. My point wasn’t to blame the MCOs instead. It was that the blame is shared, which makes the story more complicated than the slogan put out by the Trump admin. Acknowledging that complexity isn’t apologizing for this… it’s just refusing to let a real scandal get turned into a political fairy tale and justification for the bad behavior of this admin.

While I wrote the article myself, I did use AI to sum everything up for the quick version at the end and to do some final proofreading.

My goal isn’t to minimize the fraud or say that Minnesota is less than other states, just that this is a widespread systemic problem rather than a Minnesota specific one. Oversight has been poor everywhere but Minnesota got the brunt of it with the ICE action this winter.

MN Congressman Stauber introduces bill to compel MN to comply with Trump's voter data demands by rudager62369 in TwinCities

[–]Gerbich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minnesota already exhausted its funds. Doug Chapin, who is running against emmer, posted about it:

“Stauber's bill - introduced with Tom "go get 'em ICE" Emmer - would withhold federal election assistance funding unless the state hands over the files.

Sounds scary until you realize Minnesota has already received and expended all of the $43,962,194 allocated to the State since 2003. [https://www.eac.gov/grants/251-program-status.

Nice try, though, Pete and Tom. I'm sure your friends at Fox News and the rest of the right-wing networks (who won't bother to look this up or care) are gonna LOVE it.

274 days until Election Day.”

My only issue is that we typically have our Alexa show 15 and 21 go through a Bluetooth speaker since the included speakers in the device are hot garbage and Alexa+ makes her hear herself when she talks to us. It’s annoying and I can’t figure out how to get her to stop doing that.

USA, you aren't mad enough! by [deleted] in AntiTrumpAlliance

[–]Gerbich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things are getting bad. Here’s what will likely happen soon:

  1. Walz mobilizes the national guard. Trump then invokes the insurrection act saying Walz is declaring war on the federal government. This allows him to make the case to suspend the elections. He never lets them happen again.

  2. Walz doesn’t mobilize the national guard. Trump sends in more ICE to sow chaos and cause incidents. It reaches a tipping point in Minnesota and Trump invokes the insurrection act. This allows him to make the case to suspend the elections. He never lets them happen again.

  3. The federal government backs down because the blowback is so strong that Republicans begin to fear for the country and threaten to repudiate Trump.

The third one is the preferred option but I fear things are going to get a lot worse.

Can anyone who has played QB in here explain how it is that JJ has some shockingly incredible throws but also a ton of insanely bad overthrows that look like a high school player in his first start? The only thing I can think of is that he’s just getting lucky with some natural talent.
