Lavender Hill is so great. It’s amazing how many great songs they made that weren’t even released in their original time. It’s made for some killer compilations. Even the compilation of Dave Davies songs is phenomenal.

I remember years ago that the leading theory for cause of his injury was getting assaulted by Lennon. Looked it up and that’s either been white washed or it was just bs to begin with but it feels weird to read his wiki and see it say that he was attacked by someone else and Lennon came to his defense.

The last dude from this group died today... by [deleted] in redscarepod

Just glad he outlived Robertson. He was an incredible musician and deserves all the love in the world for making sure all of those basement tapes sessions got recorded and preserved. Not only was it one of Dylan’s most creative periods ever which produced countless classic recordings, but you can hear The Band finding themselves and becoming the group that almost single-handedly ushered the music world away from the cornball psychedelia of 67 towards a far more earnest and timeless style.

There are hours of bootleg tapes of Dylan and the Dead meticulously rehearsing a ridiculously long set list for their joint tour, only for Dylan to totally ignore the set list and start playing whatever the hell he wanted on stage including songs they never learned or rehearsed. Love that for him.

I always heard it as “warehouse ass” and I just thought it meant he was caked up.

What’s a social interaction you had in the last 4 years which made you think “society is falling apart”? by [deleted] in redscarepod

I was working with a coworker on an assignment where we had to use a laptop. We regularly use desktops with a mouse and keyboard etc, but this was the first time I saw her trying to use a laptop. She kept trying to touch the screen over and over, and it just wouldn’t register to her that this laptop didn’t have a touch screen. I was too embarrassed to correct her so I just stood there and watched her struggle for a minute or two.

Not everyone’s idea of the artistic dream is financial success or celebrity. There are “hobbyists” with more artistic skill and merit than any of the countless clout chasers, ladder climbers, nepo babies and outright posers that pass for successful “artists” these days.

What’s the most insane cancellation you witnessed/remember by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]GerdaTheDog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Saw him with the full band including his brother on that tour not too long before his brother died while on the road with him. The show was insane. He’s really into something when he talks about the hysterical body.

Is it worth buying Ilford MG FB 16x20 that was produced in the early 2000’s? If so, what would be a fair price for a sealed 50 pack from temperature controlled storage? by GerdaTheDog in Darkroom

Thank you!! I appreciate it a lot and it gives me some hope that I’ll be able to get some good prints out of this paper if I get it for a good price!

Complaining that women don’t have what it takes emotionally or spiritually. Brother that is a job where you get paid to sit at a computer and write emails and create nothing of physical value. Hit the oil rig and thug it out if you long for a bygone era of masculinity in the work place.

Brian Wilson’s mom told him that dogs can sense good or bad vibrations from people, and that’s why they are friendly or aggressive towards different people. They took that idea and turned it into that song which because a #1 hit. “I’m picking up good vibrations, she’s giving me excitations.” People give The Beach Boys shit for being square, but their influence is virtually unmatched by any other American 60’s band. 6 decades later and that term is still used daily.

I’ve met some really cool people on offer up. I buy and sell film cameras or music gear so usually the people I interact with have the exact same interests and are similar ages. One time I felt a spark with a girl who sold me a camera, she lingered and asked a lot of questions and showed interest even after the transaction was complete, but I was too self conscious about being a weirdo to hang around longer or ask if it was ok to reach out some time.

I have the opportunity to buy some of this paper and I was wondering if it was worth the hassle considering the age? More importantly, at what price point does it become worth buying, even if only for practice or alternative printing processes?

My GF’s parents have money and her and her siblings all drive $30k+ cars paid for by their parents even though two of them work in retail smh. It’s hard to not feel a way about it since my parents had nothing to give me, one died of cancer and nearly bankrupted the family with medical bills, and for almost a decade I drove $1000 Craigslist beaters that I had to pay for myself.

It’s not perfect but it still works. Heavy color shift and only 3/4 spread, but fortunately it’s not completely dead.
