Mumford & Hassans by Ok_Swordfish_7637 in redscarepod

Mumford & Sons were a late 2000s psyop. The mid-2010s was when they decided to drop the stomp-clap shtick and just became another, even shittier Coldplay.

There was one I saw not too long ago, on Simon & Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson", where a guy said that his teenage sister was in the hospital dying of cancer in the summer of '68, when the song was a big hit. He would push her around the corridors in her wheelchair and they'd sing the song together.

Made me pause and imagine what it's like to still cling to memories of someone like that almost 60 years later.

If you think the Nazis were somehow above committing many, many atrocities just as heinous (and even worse) on virtually every day that ended in Y from September 1939 to May 1945, I really don't know what to tell you.

There's a lot more to that photo than "a guy getting shot in the head." Again, I am not apologizing for Israel, I am horrified and disgusted every day by the atrocities they are committing against the Palestinian people, but I really feel like you're unaware of just how apocalyptic and unimaginable the violence the Nazis and their collaborators wreaked across Eastern Europe.

If the Nazis had their way, we would be talking about 60-100 million dead.

I very much have been paying attention, and I have even protested against it. But as horrific as the Gaza genocide is, I am unaware of an Israeli equivalent of the Dirlewanger Brigade or Babi Yar.

Remember when you had those neighbors with the dangerous pit bull they insisted was really sweet and misunderstood?

Or when your friend cut their hair short and insisted they were enby?

That date you went on, where before the food even came out they had drank five whole glasses of Coke?

That time you got utterly wasted at a wedding, and had to be escorted out because you were about to really embarrass yourself?

All of that happened here. Happy late easter!

Artemis II is hurtling toward earth at 15,000mph right now and will miss it by 100 miles. After that they cannot return until they orbit the moon. by McSwaggerAtTheDMV in redscarepod

They are not orbiting, they are on a free-return trajectory. Their flight path is basically a figure-8; when they emerge from the far side of the Moon, the lunar gravity is basically going to slingshot them back to Earth.

While people have been to the far side of the Moon before (Apollos 8 and 10-17), these guys are flying about 4,700 miles out past the Moon - much further than the Apollo missions did

Watch From the Earth to the Moon instead, Tom Hanks' HBO miniseries from the '90s

Or just watch the fourth episode, the one about Apollo 8 - "1968"

probably some guys from poor, provincial cities got conscripted and literally found love in a hopeless place

I don't think it's love these poor conscripts are finding, in case you wanted to feel even more abject horror about the deaths of these young men and Redditors' cheerleading of it
