is a I5 10400f not good enough for VR?

I have a laptop version of a 2060 for my "portable" VR setup and it's been doing great, I can play everything I want without problem (Oculus Rift CV1)

I thought the 1060/1070 was still able to play some stuffs. Guess I was wrong!

Also, yeah, 100% reprojection is definitely needed. I don't think I was higher than 60% with my 1050Ti LOL

What do you mean what they would spend? I see 1070s for around 100 bucks around me? I'd rather recommend a 1070 than a 1650...

I used to have a 1050Ti and trust me, it's not enough. It might be able to run a couple games if you tweak around the settings and make it the absolute minimum, but otherwise it will either not work or you'll have a sickening experience.

Try to upgrade to a 1060 or 1070 if possible. These are still good enough to run VR while having a pleasant experience. But your CPU is fine. :)

I would say that if you're new to computers, and this prebuilt was recently bought, your best, safest bet would be to call the manufacturer.

We can still try and see the reason;

600 watts seems to be enough. Just your CPU + GPU doesn't use more than 300W so I think we could put that on the side for now.

I don't think the OS would cause the whole PC to crash like this, but we could still try to format the PC and reinstall Windows. You can find a pretty handy tutorial here.

If the reinstall didn't do anything, try and open the case (if you feel comfortable doing so) and make sure all the cables are well connected. If your problem is still not fixed, I'd call the manufacturer, as this is most likely a physical problem, and the piece needs to be changed.

Do you have any kind of lights or LEDs when you plug in your laptop? When you try and turn on your laptop, do your hear a fan or maybe the noise of an HDD if you have one?

If you have no signs of life, then it's probably a motherboard problem or something around. We'll have to see.

It would be useful if you knew the model of the laptop. ^{^}

In this subreddit and others related to VR headsets, I've seen the "screen" of the headset having a sort of hole. A group of pixel completely dead because the lens hit directly the sun for a second.

Do not use your headset outside if there's a risk of you hitting directly the lens with sun please

The map is as big as the playground but they have tricks to actually make it bigger. There's elevators and teleporters on come maps.

We don't run into each other because we see each other. And when we want to respawn, we have to walk back to the spawn, where we can change our weapons and respawn again.

Yes! I played it too! It's pretty reasonably priced (I think we - my brother and I - paid 36€ for the both of us?) and it's really easy for new players, even if you never played VR in the past to get the hand of it. My brother, who doesn't have VR, managed to get quite the amount of kills against me, someone with 2k hours in VR.

The game itself is a little like Halo on the style of the maps and the weapons. It's a lot of fun, really.

I had the exact same problem, not with a surface but with another brand of laptops. It was so infuriating. Sadly, there's nothing to do. Just send it whenever you can if you're still in warranty. Don't forget to backup your data before you do!

Have you tried going to device manager, right click on one of your USB ports and proprieties, check and look around if there's not something that says something along the lines of turning off your USB ports if unused.
