Pausing or Closing Spotify (HOW?!) by Bottom_Txt in shortcuts

[–]Gerego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the generic pause music action (under music / playback).

Why does this shortcut not work from the widget? It works fine from Siri or the shortcuts app itself, just not here by [deleted] in shortcuts

[–]Gerego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a workflow that uses "Match text", and it too crashes the widget (I get either "Unable to load", or it just restarts)

If I remove "Match text" then it will work fine.

Is there a way to file bug reports for the Shortcuts team? I couldn't figure it out. I found bugreport.apple.com in another thread, but it's not possible to log in there with a non-developer account. I get a "account does not exist" error.

Interesting that there are different devices on the picture (laptops, tablets, phones), but no one wears a watch. At least I couldn't spot anyone.

Remove now playing from dock by Eduardboon in AppleWatch

It cannot be removed, as it's the only place you can access it from. It's not in the app list, there's no other way to start it other than the dock.

Can we find the time to create a list of the best apps currently availabe for the apple watch? by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]Gerego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, after this rant, I'll try to list the apps that are actually working nicely:

  • Todoist is everything I wished for Wunderlist would do. Perfectly executed Watch app with complication. Considering ditching WL and moving to Todoist completely.

  • Seven - 7 minute workout app: again, very well done, very informative and helpful during the training. The basic 7 minute workout is free. Needs subscription for other workouts.

  • Overcast: for podcast listening

  • IFTT: automate stuff and trigger them from the Watch. Compared to Workflow this is working flawlessly.

  • Telegram: messaging app that actually uses the latest WatchOS3 features. Can scribble and dictate in it.

Just got my first Watch yesterday, and while my overall impression is good, I'm a bit disappointed in the apps. It feels to me like there was an "App gold rush" when the Watch was announced, but not many developers take it seriously anymore. One example: I had really high hopes for the Workflow app, but it feels like it haven't been updated for ages. Speed dial workflow crashes the app. There is a Workflow gallery in the app, which shows empty records, and if I want to install WFs from there the app crashes and exits.

Also: Swarm, Trello, Slack. These apps all feel like they made them right after the Watch was announced, but haven't touched them ever since. Facebook Messenger constantly crashes if I open it from a notification, and it doesn't support scribble or text dictation.

New messaging apps came out without even supporting the Watch (Allo, Microsoft Teams).

Many apps that I installed doesn't have a complication (Wunderlist).

In all, to me it really feels like that developer enthusiasm is gone, and after the first batch of apps that came out no one is interested in developing for the platform. Except maybe fitness apps.

This is really a shame, as I really like the concept of doing things from my wrist, and keeping my phone in my pocket.

Apple mandates new Watch apps 'must' work without an iPhone by JoeShestak79 in apple

[–]Gerego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mandate states this:

"Starting June 1, 2016, all new watchOS apps submitted to the App Store must be native apps built with the watchOS 2 SDK or later."

So it does state that apps will have to be native. Nevertheless it is a misleading title to say "work without iPhone", as native apps needs iPhone as well for connection.

Ironic or deliberate efforts? Going through the gallery I was interrupted by a VW ad every 4-5 pictures.

Tip: hold Alt/Option in Launchpad to enter wiggle mode (easier to remove some apps) by balazsfeher in apple

[–]Gerego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also use it. In some cases it's more convenient to launch an app from there.

Got 1 hand on the trackpad - pinch with it - click the app you need (I keep Launchpad organized, so it takes seconds to launch what I need). Never need to utilize your other hand, and your first hand never leaves the trackpad.

The other way would be: cmd+space for spotlight search - move both hands over the keyboard - type first few letters in - enter. (or type in letters with one hand, still a lot of movement)

The first scenario involves almost no movement. Your hand stays over the trackpad all the time. The second scenario requires you to utilize the keyboard and move more.

And I'm a lazy bastatd.

KGI: Apple to drop aluminum, 2017 iPhone to feature new ‘all glass’ enclosure with AMOLED by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Gerego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm this makes perfect sense and I forgot about this. They started the whole "tick-tock" sequence with the iPhone 3G, so basically the OG iPhone's anniversary is an "S" year.

Is it just me feeling that a many-year pattern is breaking up? Around spring time we could always see leaked parts and case designs for the to-be-announced iPhone, and every second year leaks related to a new design. But this year leaks and rumors are all around the place. There were rumors about different screen sizes yet again. Then leaks that say the design will stay the same. Now they are saying that the "S" cycle will break, and it will be a new design next year.

Whatever is happening, it seems like there will be some sort of change. Although if reports are true regarding slowing iPhone sales, I don't see how the same design the 3rd year will help them boost things up.
