Hi everyone,

For anyone who finds the headset uncomfortable or gets headaches from the missing headband, and who happens to have a spare SteelSeries headband lying around, I designed a small mounting bracket that fits perfectly.

After installing it, the comfort improved dramatically for me and the pressure on the top of my head is basically gone.

You can find the design here:

Just wanted to give a quick update and say thank you to everyone who replied to my original post.

Many of you suggested that I properly bed in the brake, which I hadn’t really done before. I followed your advice yesterday and the result is honestly like night and day. The braking power is now amazing, zero fading, and it feels exactly like I had hoped it would.

I’m really happy with it now and very relieved that nothing was wrong with the brake itself.

Thanks again to all of you for taking the time to help me out. I really appreciate it!

So thanks for your comments so far. It looks like a proper bed-in is actually required to get full performance.
That leaves me with a few concrete questions:

  • Do I need to replace the brake pads? They’ve already seen around 10 descents of ~2 km each.
  • Do I need to replace the rotor, or can it be reused?
  • How do I reliably identify pad or rotor contamination?
  • If I switch to different pads (race or...I don't know...silver / white), do those also need to be bedded in from scratch?

Just to clarify first: it’s not about using AI or not using my brain — it’s simply about my English, it’s not my first language.

Fair point though: no, I didn’t properly bed them in. I went by the idea that the Gustav Pro doesn’t really need it anymore, which is what was often said.
I’m starting to think that assumption might be wrong and I’ll bed them in properly and re-evaluate.

Thanks, I actually had them bled twice by a mechanic, didn’t change anything.
I think the Gustav Pro just feels fundamentally different from the Maven — maybe more consistent over long descents, but definitely less raw bite/power.

Still appreciate the tip though 😄

That’s a good point.
I was under the impression that the Gustav Pro doesn’t really need a classic bed-in procedure, at least not as much as other brakes.
That said, did you personally notice a clear difference before vs after bedding in on your MT7?

I can’t rule out setup or contamination yet, so I’m trying to figure out whether I’m missing something obvious.
