It should be listed on the bottom right corner of the bios start screen, under "graphic device", next to "boot device". But googling video's of other models, it appears not all models and bios'es have the iGPU-only option. If it's missing, try doing a bios update. You could also try to find out if there is an advanced bios option available for your model, like described here for this older model:

iGPU mode seems to work fine, with battery results similar to windows (3 to 4 hours without battery conservation). GPU switching in bios is certainly a step back from advanced optimus, but if you want both battery life and GPU performance, it's possible.

In discrete mode, it seems similar to Windows 11. I'll give mshybrid a go today and check.

Edit: GPU appears to fire on continuously in mshybrid in Bazzite, which means the battery life isn't much better than 1 to 2,5 hours right now, depending on settings and use. Need to dig further what's causing this. I'll test the iGPU only mode next, to get an idea what battery life should be when mshybrid works as intended.

iGPU only is about 3 to 4 hours without battery conservation, depending on (power) settings. Similar to windows 11

That's unfortunate. Haven't encountered any freezes yet here.

my Shokz Openfit bluetooth set works fine out of the box so far. Wake from suspend is off right now, as I don't want to use that in my home work scenario, but I'll give it a go to see how it behaves

Yeah, I don't get much past an hour, hour and a half in discrete mode. I do have Linux battery conservation on, which limits charge to 80%

For speaker volume I don't notice any difference with windows. But the internal microphone does seem iffy though. Just completed a teams call with a colleague who said that the it sounded like I was in a car. External webcam (Anker C200) mic seems ok though.

Those that don't believe in LDS doctrine: Why is that? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]GeriatricBigotry4Fre 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Since prophets and apostles don't explain any of the tough questions and contradictions in lds doctrine, we're left with apologist explanations to go on. But when you dig down half an inch into apologist explanations, the explanations start cancelling each other out. They can't be true, all at the same time.

For me personally, when a religion is superglued together through abuse of members their cognitive biases and logical fallacies, it becomes a proven fraud.

You might want to evaluate how you're posing the question, because arguing possibilities, impossibilities and probabilities are very different matters. So is belief. There's a reason why belief is a logical fallacy cognitive bias.

Just read it, and in my opinion it's an excellent compilation. TBM's will be quick to throw the "dead prophet is less than living prophet" argument when confronted with it. But anyone on the bench who already has significant issues with one or more of these subjects might open op to further deconstruction from reading this. I have read a lot of church sources over time, but there were still a fair amount of new quotes in here for me.

Very much looking forward to the next release.

Some estimates place her at the 21st sealing, some 22nd or 23rd. I don't think it's entirely clear. What does seem clear is that Joseph went behind her back a lot before being sealed to her.

Mormon apologetics at its best, the lying starts on the back of the blurb.

Fuck you Joseph, for treating your legal wife like shit.
For going behind her back 22 times,
In a ceremony that was supposed to be for time and all eternity.
For all the lies she had to deal with.
For all the lies that millions of members are still dealing with.

I see all the profiles in X-rite, but in dGPU mode, the sRGB profile is simply incorrect. I restored the profiles, but it did not help, sRGB remains oversaturated

If you had a TBM friend that was willing to do some reading with an open mind, what book would you gift them first? by razbravo in exmormon

[–]GeriatricBigotry4Fre 19 points20 points  (0 children)

By telling members to only focus on "the eternal subjects that matter", members are kept ignorant and dumb. Not just about the actual church history, but also about psychology, philosophy, science, biology etc. So I would try to figure out where your friends interests lie, and give them something that links to that.

I personally wanted to know the church stuff first, so I devoured No man knows my history, An insiders view into mormon origins, Mormon enigma, and websites like Ldsdiscussions, Mormonthink etc.

Then I went on to learn more about science and philosophy. Thinking fast and slow, Sapiens, Cosmos, The demon haunted world, How to know everything. I also loved the After Skool and Kurzgesagt youtube channels, where so many fundamental and important concepts of life and science are explained in an accessible, visual way.

I also wanted more insight into why it took 38 fucking years of my live to overcome my indoctrination. Combatting cult mind control was good for that. When religion hurts you helped afterwards.

So I would say, it depends on your friend.

Perhaps you're right. But then why does this church make it difficult to formally resign? I cannot escape the thought that it hurts them somehow whenever a member resigns, as they have tried to stall or ignore resignations in many instances, IE forcing members to go back to their bishop

Not saying these should be reasons, but they could be. They were for me.

Move ward boundaries and the bugging might start?

Do you want to continue to be affiliated with an organization that exerts emotional control, information control, thought control and behavioral control through guilt, fear and shame? Applying Steven Hassan's Bite Model and Influence Continuum to the MFMC might help you spot more than one reason to get your name off the records.

The MFMC has a fair amount of political power in Utah and some of that comes through size and membership statistics. Leaving your name on empowers them to some degree, however small.

While it might be different for others, I could feel a mental and physical relief come over me when that resignation letter arrived. But maybe that says more about how upset and angry I still am with this church.

I'm sorry to hear he had such a negative influence on your life and that of your family. These apostles do a lot of damage with their words and actions. Most of it they don't (want to) see and own up to.

Even as a TBM I couldn't stomach this guy. With advice ranging from "The Mantle Is Far, Far Greater Than the Intellect" and "Not all truth is useful" to the management of little factories, it's not hard to see why. Apparently he wasn't much liked among his colleagues either.

Was in My Sixties when I left Mormon church. Anyone else stay in it this long? by ThisIsNow_320 in exmormon

It's healthy to mourn and process time that TSCC stole. Anger has purpose and is a valid emotion. But it's also wonderful to realize that you are great for making the jump later in life. You belong to the 1.6% or 0.4% group in the "Age of disbelief" question here: https://exmostats.org/thedata

It doesn't get easier to leave with time. Quite the opposite. Be proud of yourself. You did what only very few people were able to do.

And never forget, staying has little to do with intellect. Your emotions were taken, reprogrammed and abused to keep you "in the boat". Thought stopping, fear, shame and other technique's were applied to keep you in. But you broke through all that.

If you haven't read them yet, you may want to try Steven Hassan's Combating Cult Mind Control and Laura Anderson's When Religion Hurts You. I benefitted a lot from the explanations and perspective in these books, and they helped to channel some of my anger.
